Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty: ‘Everything’s in place for season 3’

Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty: ‘Everything’s in place for season 3’

As a devoted fan of Big Little Lies since its captivating debut, I can confidently say that the potential return of this mesmerizing series feels like receiving a long-awaited letter from an old friend. The news of Liane Moriarty’s upcoming sequel novel and her optimistic outlook for a third season has sent ripples of excitement through the fandom, much like the waves that crash onto Monterey shores.

Given that actress Nicole Kidman potentially disclosed some hints about Big Little Lies’ continuation earlier in the year, enthusiasts of the HBO series have been eagerly anticipating any updates regarding its revival.

2019 was the year when the series was last aired, and ever since, both enthusiastic viewers and the talented ensemble cast have consistently expressed their desire for additional episodes filled with intrigue.

Indeed, although Liane Moriarty hasn’t provided solutions to the intriguing TV query, she has revealed her ongoing efforts on a follow-up book to Big Little Lies and hinted that all signs point towards a potential Season 3.

From where I stand, I’d simply put it this way: “I am the one writing the book and, judging by the interest, it appears likely that it will indeed come to fruition.

As a devoted fan, it’s clear that the audience is eager for more, the camaraderie among the cast is palpable, and I’m penning a novel. It seems we have all the pieces aligned for this project to become a reality.

“I wouldn’t think twice about it if David E. Kelley were to transform my book into something extraordinary once more.” This version is written in the first person perspective, emphasizes the admiration for David E. Kelley’s work, and maintains the idea that he would bring his unique magic to the book.

In her forthcoming book, Moriarty continues the storyline from her initial work titled “Big Little Lies,” rather than mirroring the television series. The author emphasizes the need to maintain clear boundaries between these two forms of storytelling while crafting the novel.

Moriarty expressed her belief that the creative team responsible for the series, including Kelley, might present their unique interpretation of her latest book, which she is quite content with.

In my opinion, I’m borrowing a thought from a novelist whose name escapes me at the moment, and it was revealed in an interview that he would always dislike viewing his books as mere stepping stones leading towards eventual adaptations.

For now, the book remains my ultimate goal, but I’m equally excited that an incredible adaptation seems imminent.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but wonder if Moriarty would eagerly anticipate the continued presence of stars like Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Zoë Kravitz, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and others in future seasons, given their exceptional performances in the series.

I’d like to see the primary actors come back, but I can’t predict whether that will happen. It appears everyone expresses a desire to do so.

“As a viewer of any show that I love, I always want everybody back,” she said.

At the moment, you can buy “Here One Moment” by Liane Moriarty. Meanwhile, “Big Little Lies” is currently streaming on NOW.
