Bill Gates Reveals Steve Jobs’ LSD Advice for Microsoft’s Appeal

Billionaire entrepreneur Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, confessed he struggled to fully enjoy the company’s success despite achieving billionaire status. He explained that it wasn’t until around 1998 that he truly felt comfortable with Microsoft’s achievements. In his own words, “I didn’t feel completely at ease with our success until about 1998 or so.” Gates admitted that prior to this period, he believed one small mistake could lead to catastrophe for him.

In an interview with The Independent, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates shared his thoughts on the leadership style and product releases of Steve Jobs, who was one of Apple’s founders (as reported by Fortune).

In a past conversation, Steve Jobs expressed a thought that perhaps, if I’d experienced the psychedelic journey of LSD, it might have broadened my aesthetic sensibilities when designing my products.

Gates jokingly replied to Jobs, indicating, “Look, I got the wrong batch.”

Looking back, the relationship between Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Apple co-founder was quite intricate. Steve Jobs was renowned for his exceptional abilities in product design and marketing. He led the debut of iconic products such as the iPhone, iMac, and others – an arena where many believed Steve’s rival Bill Gates lacked, but Steve managed to close the gap by demonstrating impressive technical knowledge and proficiency.

According to Bill Gates:

I received the coding module, while he was assigned to the marketing-design bundle. It’s great for him because our skills, aside from shared leadership qualities and a tendency to push boundaries, were quite distinct.

Meanwhile, Microsoft was deeply involved in the expansion and development of its cloud computing services, a significant factor that boosted the company’s prosperity and earned it a market value of over $3 trillion.

Additionally, this tech behemoth was equally committed to delivering its Microsoft Office package, encompassing applications such as Word and Excel from Microsoft. Though these products have attracted billions of users globally up until now, Bill Gates’ product launches appeared to fail to impress Steve Jobs.

It’s worth noting that Bill Gates admitted to using drugs prior to starting Microsoft with The Independent. He explained, “I tried it to seem trendy, thinking a girl might find it intriguing. However, it didn’t work out, so I decided to stop.
