Billy Joel is putting his health first.
As a devoted follower, I’m sharing this update: In preparation for a series of shows spanning the United States this summer and autumn, the “Uptown Girl” artist has regretfully postponed all upcoming concerts, following a diagnosis with normal pressure hydrocephalus – a condition where excess fluid accumulates in the skull. This decision was made upon the advice of medical professionals.
In the press release he shared on Instagram on May 23rd, Billy expressed his heartfelt apologies for any letdown felt by the audience. He also conveyed his gratitude for their understanding.
According to the report, Billy’s condition symptoms have worsened due to his recent performances, causing him trouble with hearing, balance, and vision at age 76. Now, Billy is collaborating with a physical therapist in his healing process, and his doctors recommend that he refrain from performing during this time.
As a devoted devotee, I am deeply appreciative of the outstanding attention I’m receiving, and I am wholeheartedly dedicated to putting my health first. I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from fans during these challenging times, and eagerly anticipate the moment when I can step back onto the stage once more.
The shows that were canceled will resume from an as-yet-unannounced April 2025 date, and the last one will take place in July 2026, originally planned for Charlotte, North Carolina.
During this series of postponed performances, Billy – father to Alexa Ray (39), his daughter with ex Christie Brinkley, and Della Rose (9) and Remy (7) with wife Alexis Roderick – had planned trips to Canada, the United Kingdom, as well as multiple U.S. cities. Additionally, he was scheduled to perform alongside Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart, and Sting for joint concerts.
Billy received confirmation of his diagnosis two months later, which was the reason he had rescheduled numerous concert dates in March without disclosing the specific medical issue at that time.
In his announcement, Billy expressed that he was sorry for having to delay any performances but prioritized his health above all else. He’s eagerly waiting to return to the stage and continue delighting our wonderful audience members with the magic of live music. He appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding during this time.
Before embarking on my latest tour, I achieved an extraordinary milestone: performing my 150th show at the iconic Madison Square Garden. This remarkable feat is part of a regular residency that I initiated at this esteemed venue back in 2014, making me one of the few artists to have such a distinguished record.
After wrapping up what he referred to as an “enchanting” concert at the New York venue, the “singer from Vienna” made it clear that he’s not finished with his performances just yet.
“I’m not going to stop doing shows,” he said on Today last year. “That’s what I do.”

In April 2025, an alumnus of the show “Beverly Hills, 90210” shared that he was recuperating following an operation due to a near rupture of his appendix.
A week ago, I began experiencing some abdominal discomfort,” Brian explained in his Instagram post. “This led me to visit the hospital emergency room, where it was discovered that my appendix was on the verge of rupturing, though it hadn’t quite burst yet.
He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”
Adam Devine revealed that the injuries he suffered at age 11, following an accident with a cement truck, continue to impact him up until now.
In a 2025 episode of the “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” podcast, Devine expressed it as “It’s been a living hell,” stating that he has been experiencing spasms throughout his body. He revealed that doctors had told him, quite literally, that he was close to death—within the last year.
He mentioned that pain occasionally appears, expressing, “There are quite a few quirks and imperfections in my body.
Previously part of the Bachelor Nation, this individual disclosed his recent visit to the hospital, where he arrived on hands and knees because of severe back pain that worsened during a recreational vehicle journey with a companion.
At this moment, from my knees to my toes, it’s quite numb and that’s really surprising,” he stated in his Trading Secrets podcast on March 2025. “To give you an idea, just recently, perhaps a month ago, I was squatting approximately 295 pounds. Now, I can’t even perform a simple squat on one leg. If I try, I lose balance. It’s as if I had a minor stroke or something similar.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”
In the chilly winter of December 2024, I, an AHL player, found myself on the receiving end of a harrowing incident during a game. A fellow player’s skate inadvertently left me with a deep gash that required a total of 25 stitches to close. As days turned into weeks and my body healed, I was filled with a profound sense of gratitude.
Later, when I had fully recovered, my father, the esteemed general manager of the New Jersey Devils, Tom Fitzgerald, spoke to ESPN. His words were a testament to the bond between us as parents and children: “We’re incredibly fortunate. I wouldn’t wish such an experience on any parent.

On the next day, the comedian posted an update on social media, explaining it was a bout of food poisoning and he was recovering well.
In February 2025, the former star of “Even Stevens” revealed that she had been accidentally shot in the face during a trip to celebrate her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday by shooting clay pigeons.
Another person at our gathering discharged a weapon recklessly, hitting me in the face. @thebrendanrooney swiftly intervened, examined me, and transported me to the hospital. I was injured in five spots, with one bullet positioning itself just under an inch from striking my right eye directly.
The former star of “Kim Possible” explained, “Regrettably, a piece became stuck near my eye, and it’s not safe to remove it through surgery right now. My doctors are keeping a close watch on me, and I can see fine for now.
The actress expressed her heartfelt gratitude for simply being alive. She emphasized her deep affection for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, stating, “I treasure them immensely.” In a chilling moment, she recounted experiencing a near-death situation where she briefly glimpsed her life’s highlights. As a result, she strongly advised seizing every opportunity to embrace those close to you. She cautioned that life can take an unexpected turn in the blink of an eye.
Despite the internet often being unkind, Amy Schumer is grateful it provided her with answers in this instance. As she recounted on a January 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy, Amy jokingly told everyone to calm down when people noticed her puffier face. However, medical professionals chimed in the comments, expressing concern about Cushing syndrome and suggesting it might be caused by elevated cortisol levels or steroid injections. This led Amy to realize she had been receiving steroid injections for her scars from a breast reduction and C-section. She was later diagnosed with a type of Cushing syndrome that would heal on its own, which brought her immense relief.
Hailey Bieber faced one of the most frightening moments in her life when she encountered stroke-like symptoms during breakfast with her husband Justin Bieber in March 2022. Sharing her experience on YouTube later, Hailey recounted that Justin asked if she was alright and she didn’t respond because she wasn’t certain. Upon being asked again, she couldn’t speak and her right side of the face began to droop. Her speech also became incoherent.
Hailey mentioned that the facial paralysis subsided, but she went to the hospital as a precaution. The medical team discovered a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Further examination at the University of California, Los Angeles revealed a hole in her heart called patent foramen ovale (PFO). Hailey explained that the blood clot had moved into her heart, escaped through the hole, and reached her brain, causing the TIA.
After undergoing a successful PFO closure procedure, Hailey reported feeling well.
2022 was the year when Hailey had her health issue, and coincidentally, Justin Bieber also encountered a health challenge of his own. In June 2022, Justin disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that led to temporary facial paralysis and forced him to halt the rest of his Justice World Tour. He explained in an Instagram video that this virus affected the nerve in his ear and facial nerves, causing paralysis on one side of his face. As you can see, he was unable to blink, smile, or move his nostril on the affected side. The condition made eating progressively difficult for him, but eventually, the paralysis subsided. Hailey stated on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America that Justin is doing well now and expressed gratitude that he’s recovering nicely.
Initially, Jamie Foxx chose to keep his hospitalization in April 2023 confidential. However, during his 2024 Netflix special titled “What Had Happened Was…”, he shared the ordeal he experienced. In Atlanta one day, he recounted experiencing a severe headache and asking for an aspirin. Before receiving it, he lost consciousness for approximately 20 days.
Upon visiting a doctor who administered a cortisone shot and sent him home, his sister Deidra Dixon took him to a hospital where they discovered the cause: a brain bleed that resulted in a stroke. After undergoing surgery on the 20th day, Foxx woke up May 4 in a wheelchair and was unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.
“I am grateful for every prayer,” he said, “because I truly needed each one.
Emilia Clarke, famously known for her roles in Game of Thrones, filmed intense battle sequences. However, in 2019, she penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” for The New Yorker. In this piece, she recounted a harrowing experience at the gym where a severe headache led to vomiting profusely and uncontrollable pain. She suspected her brain was injured.
Rushed to the hospital for a scan, she was given the grim diagnosis of a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a potentially fatal type of stroke caused by brain bleeding. An aneurysm, an arterial rupture, was the culprit. The surgery to seal the aneurysm was agonizing for her.
During recovery, she struggled with aphasia, uttering incoherent words. However, a week later, the aphasia vanished, and she left the hospital after a month-long stay.
In 2013, a follow-up brain scan revealed the growth had doubled in size, necessitating another surgery. Upon waking from the procedure, she was writhing in pain as it had failed. The doctors informed her that her survival chances were slim if they didn’t operate again, and this time, they would have to access her brain through the traditional method—her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia is now reportedly in perfect health.
Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, expresses her gratitude towards her family after experiencing a severe stroke in January 2024. Upon learning about the stroke, her loved ones immediately rushed to her side. As she shared with TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi in December 2024, “I texted them that I just had a stroke and sent them a picture. Everyone came to my rescue.”
Unfortunately, due to other health complications, Cori ended up staying in the hospital for an extended period. She explained, “Initially, I thought I could go home after my stroke, but my lupus wasn’t doing well, and my kidneys were failing. There was a lot happening.”
Today, however, she is making progress towards recovery. “I’m doing great,” Cori shared. “I just had to regain some motor skills, but other than that, I was fine.
Shailene Woodley faced numerous health challenges during her early twenties. At one point, she experienced hearing loss, fatigue after short walks, and stomach issues with almost everything she ate. She was diagnosed with a complex mix of conditions by different doctors, leading to confusion.
Determined to find solutions, Shailene, who has a holistic background, sought help from both conventional medical professionals and independent healers. This quest for healing took over a decade. During this period, her physical discomfort led to fear of food, which in turn caused mental struggles such as body dysmorphia, identity confusion, and feelings of insecurity and uncertainty about her own body.
After addressing both her physical and mental health issues, Shailene is now feeling much better. She shared that her health improved over time and she is happy to say that she is currently healthy.
