With these additions, the final story arc moves one step closer to its resolution. Asta and Yuno, now reunited on the battlefield, are using their newly honed abilities against the seemingly omnipotent Lucius. However, it seems he might not be the only adversary they’ll need to conquer.
In Chapters 377 and 378 of Black Clover, the story moved a step closer to its conclusion with the hint that battles against the Paladins and Lucius clones are nearing their ends. As Asta and Yuno engaged in their final battle against Lucius, they appeared to have defeated Zogratis according to the latest update. However, it’s evident that this is just the beginning of the fight as Lucius seems ready for a resurgence, and there are indications that his Dark Triad siblings could return too.
Black Clover Teases the Dark Triad’s Return
In Chapter 377 of Black Clover, Asta and Yuno find each other and charge towards the heart of Lucius’ colossal spell enveloping the Clover Kingdom. Inside this towering spiritual tree, Lucius is seated on a throne with the vanquished Zogratis siblings lying nearby. The whole vicinity echoes with four distinct heartbeats as Lucius readies for battle against Asta and Yuno. Not long after, the fight commences, and it’s evident that the enhanced skills of Asta and Yuno during this concluding arc are gradually narrowing the chasm between their abilities and Lucius’ formidable might.
Before their last confrontation, Asta mastered the Zetten technique in the Sun Kingdom. He successfully utilized it against Yuno who unleashed a powerful Saint Spirit of Boreas. The two were so formidable that Lucius’ visions of the future seemed irrelevant, but as Chapter 378 concluded, it appeared that Lucius had been defeated. However, the battle is far from over; as the chapter ends, we see those four heartbeats resuming again.
Is The Dark Triad Really Coming Back?
During the peak of the Spade Kingdom Raid storyline, we witnessed the Dark Triad at their strongest, with each Zogratis sibling fully utilizing their Devil powers. However, despite being at their strongest, they were all defeated by Asta and the Magic Knights. This activation of Lucius triggered his return, which marked the start of this final arc. It seems that part of Lucius’ strategy involved using his siblings in some way within his larger plan.
It’s uncertain if Lucius will return with the trio and possibly enhanced Paladin powers, or if he is exploiting them for his own strength. However, it appears that we are approaching a revelation since their heartbeats can distinctly be heard within Lucius’ spell. As Black Clover progresses through this climactic arc, it seems to be straying further from its true conclusion, as there are more complexities yet to unveil in the upcoming chapters this year.
