During an exclusive chat with IGN, Capcom unveiled some fresh gameplay clips of Monster Hunter Rise, highlighting the Oilwell Basin hunting ground and sharing insights about their creative vision and dedication in designing it.
Next, Capcom unveiled a chilling new monster for Monster Hunter Wilds – the ominously named “Black Flame” Nu Udra.
In the October 2024 trailer of Monster Hunter Wilds, we caught a glimpse of Nu Udra. Now, we’ve learned more about this enigmatic creature – its true name is no longer just the “Black Flame“, and we have insights into the thrilling experience of hunting it.
In simpler terms, Udra is an oil-covered sea creature resembling a cephalopod. It stalks and captures its victims using colossal tentacles, while generating flames from unique internal organs to burn them.
The Nu Udra lacks eyes, instead relying on sensory organs in its tentacles to follow players’ movements. This unique feature makes it resistant to being disabled by Flash Bombs. However, it can still be trapped, as the Nu Udra is not a type of Elder Dragon like some other cephalopod-like monsters in Monster Hunter, such as the Yama Tsukami or Nakarkos.
To have a shot at overpowering this monstrous demon, you’ll need to sever Nu Udra’s tentacles using sharp weapons such as the Great Sword or Long Sword. This will lessen its attack radius and power. Once Nu Udra becomes weak, it’s likely to scuttle away and conceal itself in its nest by squirming through tiny gaps in the surroundings, so keep a watch for any tentacles protruding from the walls.
I hope we get to see more otherworldly monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds
In Monster Hunter Wilds, I’m thrilled to see familiar monsters like Yian Kut-Ku, Gypceros, and Gravios receive a modern facelift. However, my passion lies in tracking down new creatures, and as of now, Nu Udra is my preferred monster from Monster Hunter Wilds. This elusive beast taps into my love for battling otherworldly horrors in video games. Its eerie appearance, menacing attacks, and unsettling sounds perfectly satisfy my fascination with the grotesque.
I’m eagerly anticipating discovering the fresh monsters that Capcom is preparing for their upcoming Xbox or PC game, which will be available to hunt when Monster Hunter Wilds launches on February 28, 2025, on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
During this period, I plan on honing my hunting abilities in the Monster Hunter World 2nd Open Beta Test, a test that will run all through February prior to the official game launch.
The highly anticipated follow-up to one of Capcom’s top-tier Xbox games and PC games, Monster Hunter Worlds, is slated to debut on February 28, 2025, for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers via Steam.
