Approximately half a year after it was verified that the Charlie Brooker-developed show would resume for season seven in 2025, Netflix unveiled a list of notable actors who are set to be part of the thought-provoking anthology series.
19 actors were unveiled in a mysterious video shared by the Black Mirror account on what used to be Twitter, September 19th. The lineup includes stars like Awkwafina, Chris O’Dowd, Emma Corrin, Issa Rae, Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones, Tracee Ellis Ross, among others.
Following the enigmatic atmosphere of the show, the brief video displayed an old-style computer screen with the title, “TCKR_Confidential_NotForDistribution.mp4.” The announcement was filled with hints for fans to explore, beginning by displaying “An error has occurred,” and instructing them to “Press any key to proceed.
The video subsequently restarts to unveil the fresh faces joining this season, interspersing their arrival with enigmatic phrases such as: “Isn’t it a solitary spot?”, “It seems the entire internet has erred!”, “Who downed my almond milk?”, and “Forever yours.
Back in March, when Netflix initially revealed the upcoming season, they subtly hinted at what viewers might anticipate from the next six episodes. They tantalizingly suggested, “Six fresh tales, yet one seems somewhat reminiscent of the past.
At the Netflix event held in London, it was announced that the upcoming installment will carry on from where “USS Callister,” an episode of season four starring Jesse Plemons as a secluded video game CEO, who devises a virtual world to torment his colleagues, left off.
This episode featured Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Billy Magnussen, Osy Ikhile, and Milanka Brooks – all of these actors are expected to reappear in the upcoming season.
Over its long run, which started on Netflix in 2011, the anthology series has picked up six Emmy wins, including two for “USS Callister.”
And Brooker is thrilled for fans to see what else he and the show have brewing for season seven.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in May, he expressed his high level of enthusiasm. He noted that he’s enthusiastic about each one, but he feels particularly optimistic about the diverse mix we have this time around.
He also teased, “We are doing something really cool right now that we’ve never done before—but I can’t say what it is.”
