As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for mythological tales and our simian brethren, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and amusement as I delve into the Black Myth: Wukong Controversy. Having grown up on classics like Journey to the West, the prospect of stepping into the shoes (or rather, furry feet) of the Monkey King has me eagerly anticipating this upcoming release.

The new souls like Black Myth: Wukong Controversy has been kicking off before release.
Game Science’s newest title has many players hyped and ready for the monkey king.
But developer requests and certain political clashes in the west have sparked controversy.
Black Myth: Wukong Controversy
Black Myth: Wukong controversy has taken hold just days before release on August 20th.
As a passionate gamer, I’m excited to share that a new title is on the horizon, this time from a skilled developer based in China. This game promises an intriguing twist on the popular “Souls-like” genre, where I find myself stepping into the role of none other than Sun Wukong, the legendary Monkey King himself!
He’s among the leading characters in the renowned Chinese novel, “Journey to the West.” While its tale may be unfamiliar to many in the Western world, it already boasts a substantial fan base. Recently, it has taken the number one position on Steam, not just for its benchmark score alone!
The controversy surrounding The Black Myth: Wukong, surprisingly, doesn’t originate in the East, but rather in the West. A controversial review by Screenrant, now removed, deducted points from the score due to concerns about its representation and inclusivity.
When you play as a monkey ninja in this game, some critics have pointed out that it lacks representation and inclusivity, earning a 3/5 rating. Specifically, they mentioned the game’s shortcomings in terms of diversity.

In her initial review, this yet-unnamed author highlighted the significance of addressing reports of misogyny and sexism within the game’s development team, as she played only the first two chapters and observed a lack of female characters in the game.
Well, as a long-time gamer with years of gaming under my belt, let me tell you this: I’ve seen some crazy claims about games before, but this one takes the cake! To say it’s either delusional or intentionally inflammatory is putting it lightly. I won’t be linking the article because I don’t want to give it any more attention than necessary. Instead, I’ll share some screenshots with you that speak for themselves. Trust me, my gaming experience tells me this is not worth the hype or the drama. Let’s just say I’ve seen better and stick to what we know works!
Either this is someone who carrys a diversity checklist withem while they play games about monkey gods. Or this is more likely someone trying to get clicks out of Black Myth: Wukong Controversy.
Reading Screenrant’s review on Black Myth: Wukong piques my curiosity, as it’s a Chinese mythology-based game inspired by Journey to the West, featuring extraordinary beings and creatures.
I believe that issues like gender and societal politics can have their place, but they should not overshadow or impact the gaming experience itself.

Nevertheless, there has been debate surrounding the developers in the past, particularly regarding their response to Sweetbaby Inc. Yet, most of these allegations lack substantial proof or evidence beyond the assertion “they’re Chinese.”
However, it’s rumored that the developers issued a form asking content creators and streamers to engage with the game in an enjoyable manner while avoiding offensive or disrespectful content, as well as refraining from promoting “feminist ideologies”.
Journey To The Good Game
In addition, there’s some exciting news about early gameplay sneak peeks and concept art leaks. While some might view this as potential spoilers, for many it’s merely a glimpse of strange, unfamiliar creatures that are quite intriguing to behold due to their cool and stylish design!
The Black Myth: Wukong Debacle, as predictable as it was given the cultural collision, seems to have been somewhat exaggerated in many instances.
Unfortunately, the Western gaming world and its journalism have been heavily influenced by sensationalism for some time now. However, it’s crucial to note that the game reviews and public response appear quite positive.
In spite of the controversy surrounding Black Myth: Wukong, even the most common sources are finding enjoyment in it. It seems reasonable to conclude that the game is quite solid, both in terms of gameplay and visuals.
Excited by the legend of the Monkey King, I can’t wait to give it a go. I don’t anticipate groundbreaking results, but I’m hoping for a thrilling action-adventure game reminiscent of the PS2 era.
Additionally, it appears that the company’s request may seem unusual, but remember it’s quite common in the industry, including in the Western world. It’s unlikely that Ubisoft would provide review copies to content creators like myself under similar conditions!
Still expect to see more Black Myth: Wukong Controversy as the game officialy releases because someone is bound to have an issue with him not voting Hillary or something!
I take great pleasure in pretending to be a monkey while playing games. It’s no secret that I hold a special fondness for any game featuring our simian friends.
