Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring DLC in The Game Awards’ Fan Vote Final

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the digital worlds created by these game developers, I must say that this list of finalists for The Game Awards’ community vote is nothing short of exhilarating!

Geoff Keighley has revealed the finalists for the community vote in The Game Awards, and the last five contenders who advanced after two rounds of voting come as no shock. Voting is ongoing now until Wednesday, and the candidates are as follows:

  • Black Myth: Wukong
  • Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
  • Genshin Impact
  • Wuthering Waves
  • Zenless Zone Zero

Please cast your final vote by 6 PM Pacific Time, 9 PM Eastern Time, or 2 AM Greenwich Mean Time on Wednesday, 11th December (which is the 12th for those in the UK). The results will be revealed during The Game Awards on Thursday evening.

Black Myth: Wukong was expected to be among the top five games due to its impressive sales and positive response. However, what’s surprising is the addition of Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree alongside it. The show has faced criticism for considering a game expansion as a contender for Game of the Year, but many viewers appear to support this decision and even want to vote for it.

The finalists are accompanied by three game titles drawn from gacha: Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, and Zenless Zone Zero. Notably, Wuthering Waves will debut on PS5 on January 2nd, 2025, whereas the other two have already been released. It’s not unusual to find a majority of award-winning games belonging to the gacha genre, as they often reward their players with free in-game money when they win an award.
