Black Myth: Wukong will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Having spent a significant portion of my life immersed in the world of video games, I find myself utterly captivated by the prospect of playing games powered by Unreal Engine 5. As someone who has witnessed the evolution of gaming technology from the pixelated graphics of the past to the stunningly realistic landscapes of today, I can confidently say that this engine represents a major leap forward.

Based on the power it’s equipped with, there’s speculation that it might be launched on the upcoming Switch 2 model, although the exact amount of power it will possess remains uncertain for now.

It may also prove a bridge too far for the Steam Deck, but you can always stream it from your main computer to play it untethered from your gaming computer.

Black Myth: Wukong gameplay and story details

As we’ve said, Black Myth: Wukong is based on the 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West.

In my perspective, I’m sharing an extraordinary tale, one where I, a monkey, embark on a quest through uncharted territories, known as the “western regions,” in pursuit of sacred texts. Whether Black Myth: Wukong stays true to the original story remains to be seen, but from what I’ve glimpsed so far, it promises an epic journey indeed.

From my perspective as a film critic, this game seems to emulate the Souls series with its combat mechanics – prepare for plenty of hacking, slashing, parrying, and dying… only to start all over again. The bosses showcased at the end of the trailer appear especially formidable, so buckle up!

Is there a Black Myth: Wukong trailer?

Affirmative. The Black Myth: Wukong trailers have been progressively grander with each release, showcasing an increasingly expansive storyline.

The latest was revealed as part of The Game Awards 2023, and you can check it out just below.

The clip shows off the stunning visuals we’ve come to expect, as well as some truly bizarre-looking characters and bosses. Saving the best for last, we also finally get the release date.

You can also watch the trailer in Chinese (without English subtitles).
