Black Myth: Wukong Report Reveals Why the Game Isn't on Xbox Yet

As a lifelong gamer who has seen my fair share of delays and disappointments, I must admit that I find myself in a peculiar predicament with Black Myth: Wukong. On one hand, I’m thrilled about this promising game that’s already making waves in the gaming community. The stunning visuals, the intriguing narrative, and the action-packed gameplay have me hooked.

Approximately a week and a half from now, Black Myth: Wukong has already made a significant mark as a success story. It’s another instance in 2024 of a game surpassing predictions, selling more than 10 million copies, and attracting massive simultaneous player numbers on Steam. Though it’s been announced for Xbox Series X|S, the game is currently only playable on PlayStation 5 and PC, leaving some fans puzzled about the delay. As per leaker eXtas1s, technical troubles, specifically a “memory leak,” have hindered the release of the Xbox version. This problem seems to be impeding Xbox’s internal certification process.

According to exXtas1s on Twitter, the game is experiencing an issue called ‘Memory Leak,’ a bug known to cause major crashes that could potentially harm your Xbox console’s performance. As a result, the game has not passed Microsoft’s bug detection tests and has been postponed indefinitely until it can be optimized for Series X|S. The developers are actively working to rectify this problem and secure certification. Once they receive approval, they will announce a release date for the game, although no specific date or method has been determined yet. However, aside from that glitch, the game is almost ready to launch.

As with any leak, readers should take this with a grain of salt, but it does offer a plausible explanation for Black Myth: Wukong‘s Xbox absence. According to eXtas1s, this information comes from “Xbox insiders and developers” he spoke with at Gamescom. It’s worth noting that eXtas1s has proven to be a very reliable leaker in the past, accurately reporting on several Game Pass additions before they happened. That doesn’t necessarily mean that this information is also accurate, but it does lend the theory some credibility.

As an Xbox gamer, I’m finding myself in a bit of a pickle right now, waiting and hoping for a quick resolution. But until then, I guess it’s time to explore different gaming worlds and not get too envious as millions of other players globally immerse themselves in Black Myth: Wukong. Fortunately, there are plenty of exciting games on the horizon, due to launch on Xbox soon, so I’ve got something to look forward to!
