As someone who has been playing Call of Duty since its early days, it’s always heartening to see the series evolving and becoming more inclusive. The accessibility features announced for Black Ops 6 are truly commendable, especially the Asymmetrical Hearing Compensation settings which I believe will make the game more accessible to a wider audience.
In terms of Call of Duty, it might not be the first choice for a casual game. Yet, this series, renowned for its thrilling and competitive gameplay, has always prioritized accessibility. In fact, Activision states that approximately half of the player base utilizes the accessibility settings. The developers of Call of Duty have recently published a blog post detailing the accessibility features players can anticipate in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
In Black Ops 6, there will be a new feature called Asymmetrical Hearing Compensation settings. This allows players with uneven hearing loss to customize their own audio profile, setting unique preferences for each ear. This feature can also be enhanced using the existing audio settings, as detailed in a recent announcement about the improved audio in Black Ops 6. These improvements include the ability to lessen the ringing sound (tinnitus) and adjust the audio from Concussion and Flash grenades.
In Black Ops 6, the High-Contrast Mode from Modern Warfare 3 has been upgraded and extended to encompass not only the campaign but also the Zombies mode. This enhancement enables players to personalize the color outlines of both allies and adversaries, benefiting those who rely on High-Contrast Mode but may also struggle with color blindness or other visual impediments. Moreover, a fresh “Dark Background” setting has been incorporated into the options.

In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, there’s a lot of buzz about the new feature called Omnimovement, which lets players move in any direction by sliding or diving. However, it does have a learning curve. To make things easier, Black Ops 6 has introduced a new feature called Smart Movement, which includes customizable settings for four aspects of Operator movement, such as Sprint Assist, Mantle Assist, Crouch Assist, and Corner Slice. This helps reduce the number of required inputs, which is beneficial for players with physical limitations, as it minimizes fatigue and discomfort caused by repeated button presses. Additionally, Black Ops 6 is the first game in the series to offer customizable HUD Layouts, with various preset options available. Players can also adjust the HUD’s colors for less visual clutter and better visibility of crucial elements.

This year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode will feature accessibility options tailored for specific game modes, including an Arachnophobia setting to lessen the spider-like look of the new Zombies variant. Players engaged in solo matches can now pause and save during Zombies play or reload a previous game with full health.
The much-anticipated “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” will be available for purchase on October 25, with midnight sales beginning on the East Coast. Get ready, folks, it’s almost here! You can grab your copy on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC through Steam, Battle.net, and the Microsoft Store.
