Blade: Kevin Feige “Feeling Good So Far” With Latest Script

As a long-time gamer and Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fan, I’ve grown accustomed to the intricacies of bringing comic book stories to life on the big screen. However, the ongoing development of Marvel’s “Blade” reboot has been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least.

Marvel Studios rarely begins filming a project after only one version of its script. Instead, they usually go through several drafts by a few writers. The upcoming “Blade” film, featuring Mahershala Ali, has experienced more behind-the-scenes challenges than other comparable Marvel productions. During its production history, the “Blade” project has gone through two director changes and brought on a team of scriptwriters. However, Marvel head Kevin Feige is reportedly pleased with the most recent script, believed to be from regular Marvel contributor Eric Pearson.

We’ve faced some frustration, including from certain fans, in delaying this project. But rest assured, a writer is currently dedicated to it. I’ve reviewed half of the latest script, and I find myself quite optimistic about its progress.

Who’s directing Marvel’s Blade reboot?

Up until now, neither Marvel nor the entertainment news outlets have disclosed the name of the film’s new director. Previously, Chad Stahelski of “John Wick” fame mentioned that he had discussed the possibility of helming a “Blade” reboot with Marvel, but it is uncertain if these conversations ever led to anything concrete.

The director expressed his deep gratitude to Marvel in an interview with ComicBook in 2022. They played a significant role in shaping his professional path, and he considers Kevin Feige as an exceptional person whom he’s collaborated with numerous times on second units. Following the release of “John Wick 3,” Feige graciously made time for a meaningful conversation, acting as a valuable mentor during their brief interactions. Despite having spoken to him only a few times, his impact on the director’s mindset and approach to work has been substantial.

“Stahelski replied, ‘You ask me what we could possibly work on? To be honest, I’m not sure if I match the typical studio profile. But working on a project like “Blade” is something that genuinely excites me,'” is one possible way to paraphrase the original statement.

Blade is currently set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
