Blade: Kevin Feige Teases R Rating

Blade: Kevin Feige Teases R Rating

As a long-time Marvel fan and someone who has grown up watching the Blade films, I’m beyond excited to see the iconic vampire hunter finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The announcement that Blade will carry an R rating is music to my ears, as it’s a testament to the gritty and violent nature of the character that has always set him apart.

As a long-time fan of Marvel comics and movies, I’m thrilled to see the collaboration between Marvel Studios and the characters once owned by 20th Century Fox, specifically Deadpool and Wolverine. This threequel is truly groundbreaking as it marks the first major role for these characters in a Marvel project, and the first R-rated release from Burbank-based Marvel.

As a dedicated gamer and avid fan, I can tell you that bringing Blade back to life on the big screen is a mission near and dear to my heart. We’ve been working tirelessly for the past few years to get it right. Rushing things isn’t an option for us; we want to create a truly exceptional Blade experience.

Why is Blade delayed?

The production of “Blade” has faced its share of challenges within the Marvel Studios brand, leading to multiple release date postponements. An earlier version of the film was set in the past, but it’s uncertain if the current adaptation will retain this narrative approach.

Mia Goth, the actress known for her role in “Blade,” shared her thoughts earlier about the production delays. She expressed, “They genuinely care. I truly believe they do. Their goal is to create an excellent film, which is a comforting thought.”

As a devoted fan, I’ve been following the development of this highly anticipated film closely. Unfortunately, the production process hasn’t gone as smoothly as we had hoped. There have been several writers and two directors, Basim Tariq and Yann Demange, who have left the project. It’s currently uncertain which direction Marvel Studios will take when it comes to finding a new director. However, Chad Stahelski, the talented mind behind the John Wick franchise, has expressed his interest in taking on the role.

In an interview with ComicBook in 2022, the director expressed his significant impact on his professional growth from Marvel. He is deeply grateful for their support and considers Kevin Feige as an exceptional individual whom he has collaborated with frequently on second-unit projects. After working together on “John Wick 3,” Feige graciously set aside time to have a meaningful conversation, acting as an influential figure in shaping the director’s perspective and approach to filmmaking despite their limited interactions.

I had a conversation with him and he wondered aloud, “What could we possibly create together?” I replied honestly, “To tell you the truth, I’m not sure if I match the typical studio profile. But working on a project like Blade is something that genuinely excites me.”

Blade is currently set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
