Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick Reunite in ‘Another Simple Favor’ Sequel

The long-awaited sequel to “A Simple Favor,” previously known only by speculation, now has a confirmed release date and “Another Simple Favor.” On Tuesday, Amazon MGM Studios disclosed that the Paul Feig-directed film, starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, will first premiere at SXSW on March 7th. The global launch on Prime Video is scheduled for May 1st. Joining Kendrick and Lively in “Another Simple Favor” are Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Elizabeth Perkins, Michele Morrone, Alex Newell, Henry Golding, and Allison Janney. Remarkably, it will open SXSW as the Opening Night Film Premiere for this year.

I’m absolutely ecstatic to return to my most cherished festival in the universe, where we premiered ‘Bridesmaids’ and ‘Spy’. I’m overwhelmed with pride to have our new film opening this spectacular event. Despite my aversion to making sequels, these characters were simply too delightful not to revisit. Thus, getting to screen our movie with the fantastic SXSW crowd on March 7th is an item I can cross off my bucket list. And, guess what? Watching drums for Dwight Yoakum’s band has now moved to the top of that list!

In “Another Simple Favor,” characters Stephanie Smothers (played by Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (portrayed by Lively) meet again on the picturesque Italian island of Capri, this time at Emily’s lavish wedding to a wealthy Italian entrepreneur. Accompanied by glitzy attendees, be prepared for a wedding filled with murder and deceit, with plot twists as numerous as the turns on the route from Marina Grande to the Capri town square. As Feig mentioned, this is his inaugural sequel, a decision he explained last May in light of the growing popularity of “A Simple Favor” on streaming platforms.

Last year, Feig expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m overjoyed!” He explained that he was happy because this movie is one of his favorites. It has performed well in theaters, but there are still many people who haven’t seen it yet. Now, they finally get the chance to watch it.

He added, “It’s quite unusual as I’ve never worked on a sequel before due to my preference to steer clear of such projects. However, in this case, I adore these characters so much that I couldn’t resist the opportunity to revisit them.

Amazon’s MGM Studios have shown great enthusiasm about unveiling the sequel on Prime Video for viewers in May.

Paul Feig has once more crafted an ideal mix of intrigue, humor, and surprising turns in the eagerly awaited film, ‘Another Simple Favor,’ according to Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios. The stellar cast, headed by the incredibly gifted Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, brings a script to life that elevates this sequel to unprecedented heights. We are deeply appreciative of our partnerships with Paul, Blake, Anna, and the entire cast and crew. We can hardly contain our excitement to introduce the next installment of this tale to the passionate SXSW crowd and eventually to our Prime Video customers worldwide.

How Will Another Simple Favor Tie to A Simple Favor?

Although it appears that the upcoming movie Another Simple Favor may serve as a direct follow-up to 2018’s A Simple Favor, viewers of the original production are left wondering how the plot will unfold. In the first film, Stephanie, a single mother and blogger, finds herself in the heart of her best friend Emily’s disappearance mystery, uncovering some quite unexpected truths along the way. The movie concludes with Emily being sentenced to prison for double murder while Stephanie takes on the role of part-time private detective. Given that Emily is imprisoned at the end of the original film, fans are eagerly anticipating how she manages to secure her freedom and stand as a bride at an extravagant Italian wedding. As far as what’s in store for Stephanie, Kendrick has hinted that “Stephanie remains Stephanie.

Another Simple Favor is set to debut on Prime Video on May 1st.
