As a huge fan of both Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, I can’t help but be in awe of their playful banter and witty exchanges on social media. Their relationship seems to be filled with love, respect, and a healthy dose of humor.
Ryan Reynolds could never hit ignore on Blake Lively.
When I stepped in as co-host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! with Hugh Jackman, I didn’t want to miss out on any important moments, even if it meant taking a quick break during his heartfelt story about his late father. So, I reached for my phone and answered it when my wife called, ensuring that our connection remained strong despite the busy schedule.
As Ryan put it, “We always promised each other we’d answer in the middle of something.”
“Hi baby,” Blake told Ryan over the phone. “Is now an okay time?”
Instead of rejecting the “It Ends With Us” actor, who is the father of his children James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and Olin, born in 2023, he allowed her to speak.
“Relax, we’re good,” Ryan assured. “We’re at Kimmel’s place, merely rehearsing. It’s just a rehearsal.”
Ryan’s remark elicited plenty of chuckles from the crowd, while Hugh gave him a sidelong glance, suggesting that he was in on the interruption.
“I love you so much,” Blake responds. “I’m just bored and want to catch up.”
Ryan eagerly shared with Blake every detail of his experience as a guest host on the late-night talk show, including mentioning Jimmy’s sidekick in acknowledgement.
“That’s great,” Ryan gushed. “We’re just here. Guillermo [Rodriguez] is here.”
The 47-year-old panned his phone to show off Blake to the audience, prompting many cheers.
“Additionally, Alec is present,” Ryan explained. “Alec serves as the stage manager, and he seems distressed at the moment. Therefore, I’ll end this call. Please accept my apologies.”
The way Blake called Ryan on FaceTime appeared contrived to some, yet this isn’t the first instance of the married couple, who got hitched in 2012, poking fun at each other’s significant moments.
Back in February, Ryan playfully teased Blake about his night out with Taylor Swift, Ice Spice, and Paul McCartney. They all cheered on Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs together during the Super Bowl.
“Did everyone get a chance to watch the #Deadpool trailer?” Ryan asked in a playful post on Instagram, with a picture of him standing in front of the TV screen showing the preview. Meanwhile, he jokingly wondered, “Oh, and by the way, has anyone seen my wife?”
Of course, Blake didn’t let him get away with it—and later had the best clap back at her man.
“Hey love, I’m back from my day out! Mine went great, how about yours?” I eagerly typed into an Insta post, recreating Ryan’s iconic stance in his original snapshot.

Blake commended Ryan for his impressive music video creation for Rob McElhenney’s birthday in April 2023, expressing her anticipation for him to surpass that level of effort for her birthday on August 25th.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that in a lighthearted and relatable way like this: “During a thrilling FA Cup match between Wrexham AFC and Sheffield United, my husband was completely engrossed as co-owner of the Welsh football club. I couldn’t resist taking a playful jab at him from the sidelines.”
“Today, I treated myself to ESPN+, Blake shared on Instagram. It was a worthwhile investment to witness my husband’s intense anxiety unfold live.”
Blake questioned her husband Ryan, brother-in-law Terry Reynolds, and sister Robyn Lively: “Why didn’t anyone tell me that was how my hair looked today?” (Or “How is it that none of you noticed my hair looked like this today?”)
Instead of Blake personally discussing Mint Mobile’s family plan in an advertisement as requested by Ryan, a substitute actress took her place on screen.
In July 2022, Lively teased on Instagram, “Dear one, if you priced yourself higher, I could be yours. Sadly, you’re already taken by someone else.” In response to his claim of “revolutionizing the category,” she quipped, “@vancityreynolds, my dear, go ahead and revolutionize that couch when you use it tonight!”
When Ryan shared his intention for a brief break from movie production, Blake responded with, “Michael Caine beat him to it,” alluding to an interview where the “Dark Knight” star suggested he had completed his last film role. However, Ryan later clarified that he has not retired from acting.
In typical Ryan behavior, he playfully teased his wife on her 34th birthday by ignoring her on Instagram. Instead of posting a heartfelt message to celebrate the day, he jokingly paid tribute to Mariah Carey, commenting on Instagram Stories, “My favorite thing that has ever happened on August 25.” (Note: This paraphrase maintains the original meaning and tone while using more common and conversational phrases.)
In April 2021, Blake playfully teased Ryan as she wished their mutual friend Gigi Hadid a happy 26th birthday on Instagram. She posted a picture of herself sandwiched between the two and captioned it, “I believe we would make a great pair.”
In March 2021, the spouses received their COVID-19 vaccinations. While doing so, they playfully teased one another. Ryan donned a beanie during his appointment and asked fans for opinions on who wore it better: him or his wife, as she filmed her 2020 film “The Rhythm Section.”
Later on, I subtly expressed my admiration for the actor in a playful way by posting a picture of myself getting vaccinated. Accompanied by the caption, “Discover someone who gazes at you with the same level of respect and appreciation as I do towards the brave nurse administering this life-saving vaccine to me.”
In March 2021, Ryan freely admitted that he had only familiarized himself with his lines during the filming of their 2011 production, “Green Lantern.” Excited to revisit the project, he tweeted, “This is a fresh experience for me as I watch!” Later on, he was surprised and delighted to remember that Blake Lively was also in the movie, exclaiming, “@BlakeLively is part of this film too!”
The actor posted a picture of himself taking a shot of the screen, featuring him and Blake in the scene. He captioned it, “A hint of things to come in my fatherly journey. I share four children with my spouse.”
Last December, while browsing the Frida Mom Instagram page for new mom tips, I came across a video advising us about certain dicks to avoid post-delivery. Overwhelmed, I felt compelled to acknowledge Blake, whom I’d love to tag but was hesitant due to potential unfavorable consequences.
Last December, I took to Instagram and shared, right from Vancouver, a delightful quartet of my most cherished finds – an indulgent assortment of desserts.
Blake playfully puzzled her audience, as her husband hails from a Canadian city. But instead of revealing the name, she added a Deadpool GIF as a hint.
Back in August 2020, when news broke out about me selling our liquor company, Aviation American Gin, for an impressive $610 million, I felt the need to express my excitement in a way that was true to who I am – through writing. So, I crafted a witty “Out of Office” email, filled with light-hearted apologies and acknowledgments. I jokingly included my wife, Dwayne Johnson and Betty White, AMC Theaters, Total Wine, and TGI Friday’s among others in the message, sharing my gratitude and playfully poking fun at the situation.
He recently discovered the term “earn out” and feels compelled to make amends. To those mentioned, he extends his sincere apologies and acknowledges that their assistance will be essential in the near future.
In July 2020, Ryan shared an advertisement picture of his gin brand on social media. In response, Blake, who is married to him, playfully wrote, “This might have made me pregnant.”
Fans were let down when her spouse unexpectedly responded with an “out of office” email during her absence. His message read, “I’ll be out of the office from July 22nd onwards and into infinity. If it’s urgent and I’m not reachable, please get in touch with someone. Alternatively, I’ll get back to you as soon as I return, which is highly unlikely.”
In April 2020, Blake teased Ryan about his quarantine hairstyle by sharing a picture of his “baby man-bun” on her Instagram Stories. She added a playful caption, challenging him to forget her post every time they met from then on.
Deadpool’s actor posted a picture on his Instagram Stories with the caption, “Apparently your birth control isn’t effective enough, so…”
As an obsessed fan, I couldn’t help but chime in when Ryan gave a nod to his trainer Don Saladino for sharing his at-home workout tips. But Blake, being the witty one he is, couldn’t resist poking fun at the post. He jokingly pointed out that Don’s shirtless promo gave off some serious Tinder vibes!
She retweeted his initial post on her account with a comment, “@vancityreynolds I’m still trying to make this work. But it seems we need a fresh swipe…” followed by a wink emoji and the instruction, “Swipe up for more.”
In 2019, Ryan chose to mark a significant occasion by sharing more than just a few unflattering images of herself on Instagram – a grand total of ten! Let’s take a look at some of these snapshots once again.
And here’s another.
The mutual adoration and admiration really shines through in this one.
This one really captures Blake’s spirit, no?
Yeah, he went hard.
But he definitely saved the best for last.
For the milestone birthday in 2017, Ryan decided to go all out, posting a glamorous photo of the couple from the 2014 Met Gala in his Instagram tribute to Blake…save for the fact that he cropped her out of the pic. “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife,” he wrote.
During Ryan’s 41st birthday in 2017, Blake reciprocated the kindness by creating an impressive Instagram post. Her husband praised its excellence. For the caption, she wrote “Happy Birthday, dear” and added a picture of herself with Ryan Gosling at the Critics’ Choice Awards, with her image overlapping his in the frame.
Ah, revenge is sweet.
During the publicity tour for “A Simple Favor,” Blake faced Ryan’s persistent requests on Twitter for information about her character’s fate. He pleaded, “We’re married, you can tell me.” He recalled their past when she had driven him to the hospital during her labor. So, he inquired, “What on earth happened to Emily?”
In reply, Blake tweeted, “My dear, among all the things I hide from you, this is the least important matter to worry about. Just have faith in me.”
After receiving an original Danny Galieote painting from Blake as a gift, Ryan, the actor from “Buried,” expressed his deep gratitude in a heartfelt message on social media. Almost the entire caption was serious, but he couldn’t resist adding a touch of humor at the end. “This artwork is the best present my wife has ever given me,” he wrote. “In case of a fire, I’ll make sure to save this first before anything else, even before thanking Blake for his thoughtful gift.”
Hey, at least he said he’d come back for her?
Last year, Aviation Gin was named among the top celebrity spirits by renowned beverage critics at VinePair. Unsurprisingly, Ryan took to social media to share this impressive accolade multiple times, which in turn, drew playful teasing from Blake.
I recently shared on my Instagram Story that my husband, Ryan, doesn’t hesitate to seize opportunities. Just 37 minutes after I posted about our brand’s new ranking, he couldn’t help but bring it up!
Based on my personal perspective, I believe that sharing a screenshot from someone else’s post and adding a sarcastic caption can come off as dismissive or even disrespectful, especially when it involves content that has already gained significant attention and recognition. While it may seem like an innocuous action, it could be perceived as undermining the original author’s efforts or implying that the audience might not have seen it despite its widespread circulation.
In 2018, when divorce speculations emerged, Ryan playfully used his automated Aviation Gin email response to mock the allegations. His schedule for that Monday was filled with gym workouts, tanning sessions, and laundry tasks. Later in the day, he went to watch Blake’s film, “A Simple Favor,” at a screening, making sure to add a note to his planner: “No divorce humor!”
About an hour from then, he planned to excuse himself from the MOMA screening to collect his thoughts. It’s not just about you. This is her time to shine. Pull yourself together, jerk.
In March 2018, a report suggested that the couple had been finding it hard to spend meaningful time with each other due to their busy work schedules. To put an end to speculation, Ryan openly dismissed the rumor by retweeting the article and commenting, “I’d love some ‘me time’ myself.”
In June 2018, Blake shared a promotional poster for her film “A Simple Favor” featuring her co-star Anna Kendrick. She captioned the post with a playful question: “Is Anna Kendrick, being hotter than my husband, considered an infidelity?”
I, Ryan, couldn’t help but add my perspective to this monumental collaboration. With a twinkle in my eye, I jokingly referred to it as “the most audacious crossover event ever.” As I bid farewell to you both, I requested that you share the tale of what unfolds next. “Pass on my story,” I urged.
“You made an excellent choice” or “That was a great pick,” Blake commented on Ryan’s birthday post in October 2019.
