Although the popular anime series “Bleach” is experiencing a revival with Studio Pierrot’s return to Soul Society through “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War”, there’s unfortunately some troubling news regarding its franchise. Singer Kousuke Atari, who lent his voice to the thirteenth ending theme of “Bleach” titled “Tane wo Maku Hibi”, as well as two songs for another anime, “Natsume’s Book of Friends”, has been taken into custody by Japanese authorities on charges of alleged sexual assault.
Earlier this week, it’s been claimed that Atari, a well-known anime singer, allegedly committed a sexual assault at a public bathhouse located in Tokyo’s Shinagawa Ward, Japan. The victim is said to have restrained Atari following the alleged incident, and a bathhouse employee notified the police during the early hours of the morning. Atari, who is 44 years old, has remained silent about the matter so far, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the case.
It’s worth noting that Atari has been involved in multiple anime franchises and has released eight albums. He has also appeared in various Japanese movies such as “Cape No. 7,” “Taipei Exchanges,” and “Happiness Me Too.” In response to the incident, a statement was issued by Atari’s social media team earlier this week.
Atari’s Social Media Team Responds
On Kousuke Atari’s social media platform, his team shared an update: “Concerning the recent reports about Kousuke Atari’s arrest, today, some news outlets are stating that he has been taken into custody. Firstly, we extend our heartfelt apologies to those affected and deeply apologize to his fans and everyone involved for causing worry and inconvenience. At present, we are unable to reach the individual in question and are working on confirming the facts. As soon as we have more information, we will share it with you, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
In the thirteenth ending theme of the anime series Bleach, spanning episodes 144 to 154 during the Arrancar Arc, Atari made a brief appearance. This was the sole instance where Atari was incorporated into the show’s narrative and it has not been confirmed that Atari will reappear in the latest Thousand-Year Blood War arc. Studio Pierrot, which handled the adaptation of Bleach into an anime, has remained silent on this matter.
