As a seasoned Bleach fanatic who has been following this epic saga since its inception, I must say that the latest addition to Uryu Ishida’s arsenal in the Thousand-Year Blood War is nothing short of breathtaking! The creators have truly outdone themselves with this new form, which not only looks stunning but also brings a whole new level of power and strategy to the battlefield.

In “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War“, we’ve been excitedly anticipating that the anime will present fresh content not included in the original manga’s final arc. True to its word, the latest episode introduced a brand-new appearance for Uryu Ishida, first seen exclusively in the anime. The advantage of looking back at “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War” is that it allows the anime to faithfully adapt the manga’s final arc using insights from its initial run. Tite Kubo, the creator, has been actively participating in the production of the new anime and has even contributed additional content to enhance the adaptation.

Prior to the premiere of “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 – The Conflict” this Fall, the creators of the anime have hinted that we can expect additional unique forms, abilities, and battles that were not present in Kubo’s manga. This promise was fulfilled in the latest episode of the anime, where Ichigo Kurosaki and Uryu engaged in a fight never depicted in the manga, and Uryu even showcased his full form of the Quincy’s Vollstandig power up – a version that had never been shown in the original series. Therefore, this is an entirely new addition to the anime and the franchise as a whole.

Bleach: Uryu’s Quincy Vollstandig Explained

In Episode 30 of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Yhwach persists in his quest to annihilate the Soul King. However, Captain Ukitake’s efforts with Mimihagi have managed to delay this destruction. Ichigo makes a move to intervene and thwart Yhwach, but Uryu steps in before him. As expected, a fresh confrontation erupts between Uryu and Ichigo, even though Ichigo senses that Uryu is restraining himself, given their opposing allegiances as a Soul Reaper and a Quincy respectively.

But Ichigo’s words fail to connect, however, as Uryu’s power only reveals itself more through the fight. After being previously teased when he was using Antithesis for the first time against Squad Zero member Senjumaru, Uryu brings out a full pair of wings with his Vollstandig. It’s yet to be fully named, but it’s design seems to emphasize the kinds of straight and puncturing arrows that Uryu has been firing this whole time. It’s such a power up over his previous form that Ichigo loses to it pretty quickly after Uryu activates it for the first realm time.

How Strong Is Uryu’s New Form?

Previously, Uryu had been battling against this specific form, which could explain his strong connection with Yhwach. It’s evident that Yhwach’s power extends over all Quincies, including influencing the blood within Ichigo’s body. Given these circumstances, it’s plausible that Uryu may have aligned himself with them. However, it’s unclear at this point as he showed no restraint in his fight against Ichigo. In fact, he was the one who dealt the final blow to Ichigo. Yet, the reasons behind his actions remain ambiguous for now.

In a stunning display of power, his recent transformation allows him to swiftly and catastrophically wound Ichigo with a large gaping hole in his body, leaving the episode on a tense note. As it stands, given his new Antithesis ability that redirects all harm inflicted upon him onto his adversary, Uryu’s arsenal of powers could be among the most potent currently in play. Thus, fans should watch Uryu more closely than ever before as the climactic battles of this arc unfold.
