Blippo+ launches this fall for Switch, PC

This autumn, the cable TV simulation game “Blippo+” will be released on Nintendo Switch and Steam (PC) as confirmed by its developers, Panic. Notably, the Switch version of the game is a fresh announcement.

Over a decade ago, Panic unveiled an early model of the Playdate to Blippo+, a collaboration between Claire L. Evans and Jona Bechtolt (YACHT). Immediately, they felt compelled to create something extraordinary that would truly showcase this unique device’s potential. Their vision was to stream video, an astonishing feat on a 1-bit handheld gaming system,” stated the press release from Blippo+.

Initially, we thought our black-and-white screen was sufficient for Blippo’s extraordinary fashion, makeup, and visual effects. However, once we began recording, it became clear that the monochrome display couldn’t contain Blippo’s cosmic charm. Thus, we appealed to Panic to expand the reach of Blippo+ across as many screens as possible—in color. Fortunately, they promptly agreed. Our shared vision has been: A different television experience is attainable.

They have a knack for crafting an expansive universe and culture around their art, striking that perfect balance between making it inviting and inclusive while still maintaining an otherworldly, thrilling strangeness, as if they’re tapping into a frequency only they can perceive. Blippo+ is the most straightforward manifestation of this yet, and it’s almost unbelievable with all its incredible contributors, concepts, and jokes. Yet, it exists, and we were fortunate that they chose to debut it on Playdate—and now with PC/Switch, even more people can immerse themselves in this one-of-a-kind experience.
