As a seasoned survival horror enthusiast with a penchant for time-travel narratives and an appreciation for games that challenge my wits, the announcement of Bloober Team’s upcoming masterpiece, “Cronos: The New Dawn,” has me positively giddy!
Fresh from completing the remake of Silent Hill 2 (which sold over one million copies), Bloober Team unveiled its upcoming game during the Xbox Partner Preview. Titled Cronos: The New Dawn, this third-person survival horror game was teased with a cinematic trailer featuring a character in an armored suit battling grotesque creatures.
The storyline unveils that it involves time travel, with additional insights provided by Xbox Wire. Known as a “new path” for the studio, Cronos takes place across two eras – Cold War-era Poland during the 1980s and a desolate landscape of the future affected by The Change in a post-pandemic setting.
As Steam explains, in this game, you take on the role of a Traveler for the Collective. Your task is to explore this Collective to locate rips or fissures leading back to the 80s. The objective is to find people from the past and retrieve their essence to transport them into the future. This could be why the old woman in the trailer seems to have vanished. The adversaries are entities spawned from the leftovers of humanity, and you’ll need to act swiftly during combat to make it through alive.
2025 marks the release of “Cronos: A New Beginning” on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. This title is independently published by Bloober Team, who were previously partnered with Private Division for its publication under the working title “Project C“. However, Private Division withdrew their support earlier this year. Additionally, Bloober Team is collaborating on “Project M” with Draw Distance, developers of “Serial Cleaners“, and Skybound Entertainment’s “R“.
