Blue Bloods season 14: Release date, cast and latest news

As a movie lover who has been following police dramas for decades, I must admit that the news about Blue Bloods season 14 being its last has left me feeling a bit like a long-time friend moving away. Since 2010, I’ve watched Frank Reagan and his family navigate through hundreds of cases, major life milestones, and the complexities of being a part of one of New York City’s most respected families in law enforcement.

Fans of the TV series “Blue Bloods” located in both the United States and the United Kingdom can look forward to some good news: fresh episodes are coming to their screens!

In my opinion, this lengthy TV series spotlights the career of Tom Selleck, portraying him as a seasoned police commissioner and the head of the Reagan clan, whose roots are deeply entwined with law enforcement.

For nearly a decade (feels like ages ago), viewers have witnessed the highs and lows, with numerous cases being resolved and significant life events reached. Yet, everything that brings joy eventually concludes its course.

The show is winding down with season 14, which premiered in the US earlier this year and finally comes to the UK tonight, Wednesday 4th September, via Sky Witness and NOW.

Excitedly, I can’t wait for the remaining eight episodes of my favorite crime drama, the Reagans, which will be airing soon after the mid-season break next month. However, I’m left wondering about their fate and how it all concludes for this captivating family.

Read on for everything you need to know about Blue Bloods season 14.

Will Blue Bloods season 14 be the show’s final season?

Regrettably, the 14th season, which was recently confirmed, marks the end of this popular show’s run.

For over a decade, it’s been a source of pride and respect for me to be part of a series that salutes the heroes who safeguard and assist in New York City, while simultaneously emphasizing the significance of family values. (Tom Selleck)

“Being side by side with such phenomenal artists like actors, scriptwriters, producers, directors, and the entire team has been an unforgettable experience that feels like a dream come true. I’m truly thankful to have collaborated with this exceptional collective for more than 275 episodes.”

“We’re deeply grateful to CBS Studios and CBS Network for their unwavering backing, and we extend our warmest thanks to the fans who joined us for dinner each Friday evening.”

From a positive perspective for enthusiasts, the upcoming season is going to span over two segments. Initially, you’ll get the first ten episodes, followed by the remaining eight being aired at a later time.

When will Blue Bloods season 14 air?

The second half of Blue Bloods Season 14 is set to kick off on CBS television network on the evening of Friday, 18th October 2024, starting at 10pm in both Eastern and Pacific Time zones. If you miss the live telecast, don’t worry, as episodes will also be accessible for streaming on Paramount Plus.

Initially, ten episodes from the series were broadcast in the United States during February. For American audiences, there are now just eight episodes remaining before they permanently end their relationship with this television program.

In the United Kingdom, we’ve been waiting a bit longer! The fourteenth season of Blue Bloods starts airing here on Sky TV at 9 PM on Wednesday, 4th September. New episodes can also be streamed on NOW.

Because of the potential late start, there’s a chance that Blue Bloods season 14 might continuously air on British television, instead of having a mid-season pause as necessary for the U.S. broadcast schedule.

Filming on Blue Bloods officially wrapped in July, with star Donnie Wahlberg (who plays Danny Reagan) marking the momentous occasion with a reflective post on Instagram.

He said: “Last day of Blue Bloods. Not sure I have the words to describe how I feel about today, or the last 14 years on this special Blue Bloods journey, but I do know how incredibly thankful I am for every moment of it.

I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone involved: actors, crew members, guest stars, writers, producers, and each department – thank you. To the residents of New York, from every neighborhood and borough, a heartfelt thanks for your continuous support.

“To the NYPD, thank you for your support and sacrifice, I hope we did you proud.”

Blue Bloods season 14 cast: Who’s returning?

In a new twist, TV icon Tom Selleck reprises his role as Frank, head of the Reagan clan, set to appear once more in season 14, alongside:

  • Donnie Wahlberg as Danny
  • Bridget Moynahan as Erin
  • Will Estes as Jamie
  • Len Cariou as Henry
  • Marisa Ramirez as Maria Baez
  • Vanessa Ray as Eddie Janko-Reagan

Blue Bloods season 14 plot: What will happen?

Season 13’s finale didn’t set up many mysteries or foreshadow future events, but it did reintroduce some characters who hadn’t been around for a while. Among them were Jackie Curatola, Danny’s old partner played by Jennifer Esposito, and two familiar faces – Jack, Danny’s eldest son portrayed by Tony Terraciano, and Nicky, Erin’s daughter played by Sami Gayle, who made an appearance during the family dinner.

Is it possible that these recurrences indicate a higher chance of additional beloved characters making a comeback for season 14? While Jackie’s narrative reached its resolution, it would surely bring joy to fans if we were to see more of Jack, Nicky, and other characters from earlier seasons, like Lorraine Bracco’s mayor character and Bebe Neuwirth’s Kelly Peterson.
