Phil Robertson’s health doesn’t appear to be improving.
Time has passed since Duck Dynasty‘s star, Jase Robertson’s father, revealed his struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, but there seems to be no significant improvement in his 78-year-old condition.
On the April 2nd episode of the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast, I shared a question that follows me everywhere I go: “How’s your dad doing?” Jase here, and I’m not mincing words when I say it’s not good.
Even though things aren’t perfect, Jase, aged 55, pointed out that his family remains optimistic and focused on maintaining a positive outlook.
“We’re doing the best we can,” he continued. “I think that’s just what you do.”
Overjoyed by the update I’ve received, I can’t help but express my excitement! My beloved Kay Robertson, at 77, is showing signs of improvement following an unfortunate incident where a fall led to a severe infection demanding immediate medical care. The news brings a wave of relief and happiness!
He shared that his mother has significantly improved over the past week as she had been unwell beforehand. Although she’s still in the hospital, the focus now is on her physical rehabilitation and encouraging her to eat.
Given the circumstances, it was particularly heartening that the update came at a time when those close to the matriarch were bracing themselves for the worst.
Jase admitted honestly, ‘It appeared as though we might be reaching the end.’ In that instant, it felt as if we were very near, which made it tough.
Earlier, Jase had talked about his father’s struggle with Alzheimer’s, mentioning that the disease was still in its early phases. However, even at that time, it seemed like the diagnosis was only one aspect contributing to Phil’s overall health issues.
As reported by Jase in a recent podcast episode, the medical professionals are confident that he is suffering from a type of blood disorder which is rapidly progressing and causing issues throughout his body.
Although there’s no known remedy for the condition that progressively affects one’s memory, Jase reassured supporters that his family is doing everything possible to aid Phil in overcoming his hardships.
He explained, “We’re exploring various strategies to improve his comfort level and potentially assist with his memory issues. A group of medical professionals are working together on this, and they all concur that there’s no cure for his condition. So, our goal is to enhance his comfort as much as possible.

In the year 2020, Phil Robertson, a prominent figure on the show “Duck Dynasty”, learned that he had fathered a daughter named Phyllis from a past relationship many years ago. This revelation prompted him to reestablish contact with his long-lost child and even took her on a duck hunting trip together.
In her Instagram post from November, Phyllis expressed her gratitude for finally reuniting with someone, saying it was orchestrated by divine timing. She added that each day and new encounter is a precious gift.
Phyllis titled this January 2021 photo as “The end of my first duck hunting season with an amazing hunt!” A year ago today, she began her life with her genuine father after paternity tests confirmed the truth. Despite the highs and lows throughout this rollercoaster journey, we know that God uses everything for good in the lives of those who love Him, as stated in Romans 8:28. I am incredibly grateful that this day and this anniversary have brought such a positive outcome.
In 2021, Phil and his spouse, Kay “Miss Kay” Robertson, extended an invitation to Phyllis and her husband to join them for Easter celebrations with their family, which included Phil’s brother Si Robertson as well.
Phil taught Phyllis how to make mayhaw jelly in May 2021.
Phyllis celebrated her first Father’s Day with Phil in 2021.
She posted on Instagram, “My father showed me the way to prepare crawfish au gratin today. It was a tasty and unforgettable Father’s Day – the very first one we celebrated together.
Phyllis celebrated Christmas 2021 with Phil, Miss Kay, their children Al, Jase, Willie, and Jep, respectively.
The Robertson family went duck hunting in November 2022.
The hunting season for ducks in 2022-23 has concluded, stretching from northeastern Louisiana to southeastern Kansas. In February 2022, Phyllis shared her thoughts: ‘What a delight it was to spend quality time with my father, family, and friends. We engaged in thoughtful conversations about faith, marveled at the beauty of nature, honed new abilities, contributed to a charity for missions, and spread the Good News. To top it off, we harvested and preserved some waterfowl! I can confidently say that this season was a huge success.’
In April 2023, Phil shared on Instagram: “Wishing everyone a happy and filled-with-joy Easter as we mark the incredible event of the resurrection, our faith in Jesus, and the prospect of what’s ahead. May our tale inspire you—may you find light and hope in the living Messiah. From our family to yours, have a blessed Easter!
