Kelly Rizzo is thankful for the family she has in Dave Coulier.
The host of the “Comfort Food” podcast, who was wedded to Dave’s “Full House” co-star Bob Saget from 2018 until his passing in 2022, offered some insights into her relationship with Dave and his wife Melissa Coulier. She also discussed how she has been offering support to them since the comedian disclosed his stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis.
Before the announcement, I had already gathered some information from him. We had a conversation, as Kelly shared exclusively with TopMob News during the 11th Annual Reality TV Awards in Los Angeles on November 18. I’ve been maintaining frequent communication with his wife Mel, who has kept me informed about his treatments and advancements.
She was immensely relieved to discover that Dave’s cancer had not invaded his bone marrow. This finding, she emphasized, is an enormous advantage and significantly improves his prognosis.
She added, “I was so grateful to hear that news very recently.”
During Dave’s health ordeal, Kelly opts to emphasize the optimistic aspects. Laughing lightly, she expresses, “I’m confident he’ll recover simply because he must. After all, we all rely on him.
However, it’s not only Kelly who supports Dave. In fact, the Full House cast is known for consistently showing up for each other, which Kelly finds particularly touching.
She clarified, “They are consistently encouraging, and this situation is no exception as it brings them closer as a family. They showed their unity during Bob’s time, and they will do the same for Dave to offer him support.
Regarding Dave, it’s important to note that at 65 years old, he had disclosed earlier that he was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive form of lymphoma. He mentioned that he discovered the growth in his lymph nodes just five weeks prior to discussing his fight against this condition.
During that period, I’ve undergone three operations, received chemotherapy, and unfortunately, I’ve lost some hair, he shared with Hoda Kotb on November 13. Currently, I resemble a small baby bird, but it’s been quite the emotional roller coaster, indeed.
But despite the difficulty, Dave is using diagnosis as a way to refocus his outlook on life.
He told Today.com that he informed Melissa that he’s somehow at peace with whatever news awaits him, regardless of how grim it might be. He admits he can’t pinpoint why he feels this way, but his life has been extraordinary, filled with remarkable individuals, and if this is the conclusion of his journey, he’s still content.
