As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast and collector of LEGO sets, I am beyond excited about the upcoming release of “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy” on Disney+! The chance to delve deeper into the Star Wars universe, especially through the lens of the beloved LEGO franchise, is an opportunity that’s too good to resist.
The animated series titled “LEGO Star Wars: Reimagine the Galaxy” is coming to Disney+, presenting a fresh perspective on the Star Wars universe through four animated episodes. Alongside various alternate versions of characters from the expansive Star Wars lore, this series introduces Jedi Bob (voiced by Bobby Moynihan), a character beloved by LEGO collectors. Originally an unnamed Jedi in the official LEGO sets for “Attack of the Clones“, fans have since dubbed him “Bob” and now, he’s set to receive his own backstory. In an interview with ComicBook about “LEGO Star Wars: Reimagine the Galaxy“, Moynihan discussed the intriguing task of voicing a character with franchise history, but without any established canon behind him.
In our chat, I shared how thrilling it was for me, as a die-hard Star Wars enthusiast, to take on the role of Jedi Bob – a chance to explore something timeless yet unprecedented. The learning process was incredibly fun, and being part of this legendary universe just made it all the more exciting. I can’t contain my joy!
Moynihan mentioned that to capture the voice of Jedi Bob, he aimed for a Qui-Gon-like approach. He described him as having a hint of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon, but predominantly resembling Danny Glover from “Lethal Weapon,” who often appears nonchalant and casual, shedding his airs quickly. In essence, Jedi Bob portrays an elegant Jedi, but he’s just “Jedi Bob” in reality.
What Is LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy About?
In LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, an everyday Nerf-herder named Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo) uncovers a potent artifact in a concealed Jedi temple, causing chaos throughout the entire Star Wars universe. As a result, he’s swept up into a thrilling adventure within a revamped galaxy teeming with surprises and twists – where allies turn out to be enemies, adversaries transform into friends, and Sig must rise as the hero capable of restoring order by piecing everything back together.
In the voiceover for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, you’ll find Gaten Matarazzo and Sig Greebling, Tony Revolori and Dev Greebling, Bobby Moynihan alongside Jedi Bob, Marsai Martin with Yesi Scala, Michael Cusack as Servo, Ahmed Best voicing Darth Jar Jar, and lastly, Mark Hamill portraying Luke Skywalker.
