Bond villain actor reprises iconic role 19 years later for new project

In the upcoming Bond films, fans can expect a blast from the past as an iconic villain from nearly two decades ago makes a comeback in a fresh and exciting way.

At Summer Game Fest 2025, it was revealed that Mads Mikkelsen is set to return to the role he played in the 2006 film Casino Royale. His character will unexpectedly appear in the video game Hitman: World of Assassination.

In the upcoming timeframe between now and June 6, 2025, you can participate in a mission known as “The Banker,” during which Le Chiffre plays a role.

Joining the mission is linked to the upcoming Bond game 007: First Light. If you register for an IOI account and complete the mission successfully, you’ll gain access to a unique suit that can be utilized within the forthcoming endeavor.

Upon resuming his part, Mikkelsen commented: “I’ve always found Le Chiffre fascinating – he’s cunning, icy, and relentless. Working him into the Hitman universe promises an exhilarating partnership. Players can anticipate a series of mental challenges, high-risk situations, and unexpected turns that only this character could orchestrate. To prevail, they must play their moves strategically.

In the meantime, Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, expressed his excitement: “We’re overjoyed to have Mads Mikkelsen joining Hitman: World of Assassination. Players are in for a treat with this new mission that brings back Le Chiffre after almost 20 years. I can’t wait to see gamers dive into this sneak peek of what’s to come from IO Interactive in the Bond series.
