Recently, in the news, Randy Pitchford, President and CEO of Gearbox Software, stated that dedicated fans would manage to purchase Borderlands 4 even at a cost of $80. However, this statement did not sit well with numerous individuals.
On a brighter note (But there’s more trouble ahead), Randy Pitchford has shared that unlike certain other games in the market, Borderlands 4 won’t be going up to a $80 price tag. Instead, it’ll debut at a more affordable $69.99.
Under the regular price for Borderlands 3 lies the rise in cost that other editions experienced. Specifically, the Deluxe Edition will now be priced at $99.99, an increase from its initial launch price of $79.99. Similarly, the Super Deluxe Edition has significantly risen to $129.99, a jump from its previous price of $99.99.
Below are the differences given in each edition.
Standard Edition ($69.99) | Deluxe Edition ($99.99) | Super Deluxe Edition ($129.99) | |
---|---|---|---|
Base Game | X | X | X |
Gilded Glory Pack (Pre-Order Only) | X | X | X |
Bounty Pack Bundle | X | X | |
Firehawk’s Fury | X | X | |
Vault Hunter Pack | X | ||
Ornate Order Pack | X | ||
For a comprehensive understanding of the individual components, I recommend visiting their official site. There, you will find a variety of both aesthetic and downloadable content offerings for each version they offer.
Will the new pricing strategy for Take-Two’s upcoming titles, including Grand Theft Auto VI, be more akin to “Take-More” in terms of cost? This could potentially involve standard prices with premium editions priced as high as the original Halo 3: Legendary Edition.
I get it that the price of gaming is going up. Various factors like tariffs, wages, development costs, and even more elements have contributed to this skyrocketing cost, but let’s take a breather for a moment.
It’s hard for me to wrap my head around spending $130 on some recent special editions. That’s over twice the cost of two games from just a few years back. Incredibly, you can purchase Dune: Awakening, The Alters, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for less money than the premium edition for Borderlands 4.

On top of everything else, they unveiled an extra $150 collectible edition known as the Echo-4 Bundle. This set comes with a cool statue, various posters, a necklace, and SHIFT codes, but unfortunately, it does not contain the actual game itself.
Absolutely on point! They’re releasing a special collector’s item, packed with in-game codes, yet no physical game is included. So, the total cost comes up to $220, and if you wish to actually experience the game, that’ll be an additional expense.
You can’t make this up anymore. This is now the future of gaming, and I hate it.
