As a dedicated fan, I must admit that my excitement for the upcoming Borderlands Fan Fest is off the charts! Gearbox Entertainment seems to have turned the page on the debate surrounding the rumored $80 price tag for Borderlands 4. Yet, there’s no denying that a hint of skepticism lingers, particularly given how our competitors have seemingly influenced features like the Digirunner, reminiscent of the Sparrow, and the grappling hook. Still, I remain optimistic that Gearbox will deliver an exceptional game that truly sets Borderlands apart!
According to Taylor Clark, the lead writer, Borderlands isn’t trying to capitalize on trends in a calculated manner. Instead, given that Borderlands is nearly of age to drive, it seems natural for it to keep evolving and changing over time.
Our team is filled with creativity, and we have concepts we wish to bring to life within the realm of Borderlands 4; methods that will rekindle the sensation of charting new territories once more.
Chris Brock, the executive producer, shares that the team is adopting the same dedicated focus on combat, yet expanding it to movement and exploration for Borderlands 3. Clark reinforces the absence of loading times and emphasizes that players can tackle the campaign’s main missions in virtually any sequence.
If you’ve observed gameplay during Fan Fest, you might have noticed missions that resemble Public Events and can be undertaken at any moment. Additionally, even the Primordial Vault, a key activity, is repeatable, offering opportunities to enhance your gear as you progress through the storyline. This design aspect supports the non-linear gameplay structure.
The highly anticipated game, Borderlands 4, is set to release on September 12th across platforms such as Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow at a later point. To get a glimpse of the villains you’ll be battling, take a look at the story trailer available here.
