Borderlands 4 Price Announcement Coming “Soon,” Says Gearbox CEO

In May, there was a lot happening with Gearbox Entertainment’s anticipated game, Borderlands 4. This was after a detailed presentation during the latest State of Play. The excitement began at PAX East 2025 when CEO Randy Pitchford disclosed that the looter shooter could potentially be priced at $80.

Following criticism over his comment about “true followers,” Pitchford issued not just one, but two apologies. However, more controversy ensued when he suggested “Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands,” currently free on the Epic Games Store until June 5th, for those who might be budget-conscious fans.

When informed that games should not cost $80, Pitchford stated, “Regrettably, the gaming industry appears to be heading towards such prices, and we must confront this reality. The price for Borderlands 4 will be disclosed by the publisher shortly. I hope, given the hard work put into it, that as many individuals as possible can enjoy playing it.

Amongst all the excitement, there’s a hint about a possible price reveal and the possibility of pre-orders becoming available. Could it be during the Summer Game Fest showcase on June 6th? There’s been a teaser for Borderlands 4, though it doesn’t necessarily mean an announcement is imminent. Interestingly, it was also announced at last year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live (another event organized by Geoff Keighley).

Time will unfold, so keep an eye out: “Borderlands 4” unveils on September 12th, available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Its production cost is over double that of “Borderlands 3”, with Gearbox ensuring the largest game world yet.
