Borderlands 4 Release Date Moved Forward to September 12th

It’s been revealed that Borderlands 4 is set to debut on the 12th of September. Initially planned for a release on the 23rd of September across platforms such as Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

In an unintentionally premature video post (later removed), CEO Randy Pitchford characterized the project’s current status as the most favorable scenario possible. Furthermore, he assures us that the upcoming State of Play event is just around the corner, promising to reveal “more about the game than you’ve ever witnessed before.

Some users speculate that the new release date might be adjusted because Grand Theft Auto 6 could debut around late September or early October, with Gearbox Software preferring to avoid a direct competition. Additionally, it may also want to steer clear of going head-to-head with Bungie’s Marathon, set for release on September 23rd. In Borderlands 4, the action unfolds on a fresh planet called Kairos, where a tyrannical ruler known as the Timekeeper clashes with the Ripper Horde.
