As a seasoned Borderlands fan with countless hours spent looting, shooting, and laughing my way through the vibrant worlds of Pandora, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming release of Borderlands 4! The reveal at The Game Awards was nothing short of electrifying, and the promise of a new planet to explore, billions of new weapons, and deeper Vault Hunter skill trees has me eagerly awaiting the chaotic mayhem that lies ahead.
At The Game Awards, the CEO of Gearbox graced the stage to unveil a sneak peek of what’s to come in Borderlands 4, set to release in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and personal computers. Most excitingly, we got a glimpse of four new characters players can control, known as Vault Hunters, along with some of their special skills. Take a look at the video below.
The narrative centers around a character known as The Timekeeper, who initiates a calamity of cosmic proportions on the recently discovered planet Kairos. Players are tasked with thwarting this menace, utilizing an array of innovative weaponry numbering in the billions, delving into the most intricate Vault Hunter skill branches, and navigating a world that’s more interactive than ever before. Additionally, you’ll acquire new vehicles, which can be summoned at will to traverse the landscape or take part in thrilling races. Cooperative play makes a comeback, allowing up to four players to join forces.
Although no official launch date has been announced (except that it won’t be around the same time as Grand Theft Auto 6), Borderlands 4 is being hyped as the “most ambitious” game in the series. At least, the initial teaser trailer seems to tone down the humor that was criticized in Borderlands 3. Keep an eye out for more information within the next year.
