Borderlands 4 Update Seems to Confirm Release Date

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of release date teasers and outright deceptions. However, this Borderlands 4 speculation has me feeling like a detective on the cusp of cracking a major case.

The latest Borderlands 4 update appears to give a hint about its upcoming release, as the official word is that it will come out in 2025. However, this could mean anytime next year, including January 1st or even December 31st. But when you consider additional details, the potential release date becomes more precise.

It’s unlikely that Borderlands 4 will launch in the first half of 2025. If it were planned for a 2026 release, it would have been announced with a date at The Game Awards this month. Revealing a game without a release date and then announcing one shortly after, especially when that release is close, seems unusual and unconventional in marketing terms.

Based on recent updates, we are confident that Borderlands 4 will drop between July and August this year. This assumption stems from Take-Two Interactive’s statement that they aim to release the game at a distance from Grand Theft Auto 6, given its massive anticipation and potential to monopolize attention upon release. GTA 6 is slated for holiday 2025 (October or November), making September too close and December inadvisable due to being within the same year. So, July and August appear to be the likely release windows for Borderlands 4.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m not used to major video games dropping in July, so it seems unlikely that Borderlands 4 will be released then. August appears to be the frontrunner for its release, unless there’s a delay with GTA 6 beyond 2025 – which, according to whispers in the gaming community, could very well happen.

If Borderlands 4 is scheduled for an August release, it’s likely that it will come towards the end of August. This timing is more common for larger games, as they tend to be released later in the month rather than earlier. Given the release date of Borderlands 3 (September 13), this timing wouldn’t be unexpected.

Keep in mind that much of this is conjecture; take it with a pinch of skepticism. For ongoing updates on Borderlands 4 – featuring the newest news, rumors, and leaked information, as well as our own speculations – follow this link.
