As a tech enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! Contrary to the delays many games experience, Borderlands 4 seems to be bucking the trend. Just yesterday, Gearbox Software announced via their Twitter that this highly-anticipated looter-shooter is now set to drop on September 12, 2025! Can’t wait to jump back into Pandora!
The game’s release date has been pushed back approximately two weeks from the initially planned launch on September 23, a fact that was initially revealed during the State of Play in February 2025.
Enthusiasts yearning for additional insights about the upcoming adventure within the Vault Hunter’s universe and its monstrous inhabitants won’t have to wait much longer, as Gearbox Software and PlayStation are joining forces to unveil more of the game in a special State of Play broadcast on April 30 at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time / 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
In the upcoming presentation, you’ll see about twenty minutes worth of fresh gameplay clips. This will also include insights into the characteristics of the new characters, an overview of the narrative, and a peek at the diverse array of weapons featured in the latest installment from Gearbox Software’s esteemed series.
Moving a game up isn’t exactly common
Occasionally, games are postponed, but it’s quite unusual for a game to be brought forward from its initial launch date, as is the case with some titles.
It seems strategic for Borderlands 4, given its initial release date coincided with Bungie’s Marathon, a revamped and sequential first-person shooter based on the original Marathon trilogy.
On October 2, 2025, Ghost of Yōtei from PlayStation and Sucker Punch is set to be released, but for now, the anticipation of Grand Theft Auto 6 remains in the air throughout the fall season.
I’m eager to find out the specific release date for Grand Theft Auto, and whether it (along with any other games) gets postponed from this year to 2026.
Borderlands 4 is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5.
