As a long-time fan of the Borderlands franchise, I have to say that my excitement for the movie adaptation was through the roof! However, after seeing it over the weekend, I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed with how it turned out. With an abysmal 9% critics score and a mediocre audience score of 52%, it seems like Eli Roth’s take on Borderlands missed the mark for many fans.
The movie “Borderlands” hit theaters this past weekend, and Eli Roth’s video game adaptation is not doing well with viewers. With a dismal 9% critics score and an audience score of 52% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a disappointing box office performance during its opening weekend, the film is struggling to find favor among audiences. Prior to its release, Florian Munteanu, who portrays Krieg in the movie, spoke with ComicBook about the possibility of a prequel focusing on his character due to its intriguing backstory in the games. Given the movie’s reception, a prequel now appears improbable, but Munteanu was enthusiastic about the concept.
Munteanu expressed his eagerness for creating a “Borderlands” prequel film when asked about it. He mentioned that the prequel would be an exciting project for him because there’s so much untold story in it. As a fan himself, he shared his desire to explore why the character is the way he is and delve into the experiences he went through.
He also mentioned, “If you’re well-versed in these games, you’re probably aware of the dual nature and all its associated aspects. That’s a topic I’m particularly interested in delving deeper into.”
