Boruto Part 2: Explosive Plot Twists and New Direction Teased!

The anime “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” ended in 2023 after a continuous run of 7 years, wrapping up Part 1 with episode 293. Since then, there’s been little information about the status of Part 2, but fans can feel confident that it will arrive before long. The upcoming content is set to surpass all previous installments, flipping the narrative on its head and setting a new course for the storyline permanently.

The last episode, named ‘Goodbye’, delved into chapters 67, 68, and 70, right smack in the middle of the Assault arc from the Code. Frankly, it was a fantastic episode, but the anime ended at an unusual juncture within the narrative. But if Part 2 kicks off with chapter 71, the continuity won’t be jarring and will instead burst onto the scene in style. Despite the speculation surrounding the anime, here is all we currently know about Boruto‘s second season.

When Will Boruto‘s Anime Return?

At present, we don’t have details regarding when or how Boruto will resume its broadcast. However, given that Studio Pierrot has listed Boruto alongside Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War as top priorities, it’s reasonable to assume that production on the second part is underway. It’s been two years since the anime went on a break, and it won’t be much longer until we hear some updates about its return.

Among several potential timings, it’s most likely that Boruto will resume after the final broadcast of Bleach’s cour. If this prediction holds true, we could see a return of Boruto from as early as 2026, but it might also be beyond that year. Keep in mind that these are speculations based on Studio Pierrot’s current projects; fans should wait for an official announcement before getting too excited.

As an observer, I’d say the optimal moment and venue for unveiling Boruto Part 2 would be this year’s Jump Festa event. During the run of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, it was a recurring highlight at this event, gracing one of the three stages. So, if there’s any suitable time to share news about Part 2, it seems like December this year is the right choice. If there’s a stage dedicated to the anime, it’s probably where we’ll learn all about the sequel.

What Will Boruto Part 2 Cover?

The forthcoming storyline, known as the “Omnipotence Arc,” marks the climactic end of the Boruto manga. This arc is not only significant as it concludes the series but also promises to be its most thrilling and spectacular. Spanning chapters 68-80, this arc will delve into Eida and Daemon’s time in Konoha, uncover Amado’s intentions and backstory, and introduce a higher-dimensional being and more about the Otsutsuki clan. The storyline will culminate with Kawaki taking an unprecedented step to safeguard Naruto and Hinata, a move that is sure to shock readers. Additionally, Boruto’s transformation into a renegade ninja will be a significant part of this arc. If executed well, the Omnipotence Arc has the potential to overshadow everything else and gain immense popularity due to its numerous unexpected twists.

Boruto‘s Anime Needs to Solve One Big Issue

The break (hiatus) is beneficial for the anime’s creation process, allowing the team more time to produce high-quality content. However, it would be better if the series could shift focus away from filler episodes and maintain a consistent release schedule. Filler episodes disrupt the story’s flow and tempo, lowering both production value and writing quality compared to canonical arcs. This inconsistency in quality affected the adaptation of the Code Arc and resulted in decreased viewer engagement.

I’m absolutely thrilled at the prospect of a 12-episode season for our beloved series! As of now, we have 33 chapters yet to be adapted, and typically, each episode adapts 2-3 chapters. However, given the abundance of dialogue and action in the upcoming arc, it might be feasible to reduce that per episode. With so much content available, a 12+ episode season seems more than achievable!

Fortunately for us, Studio Pierrot’s CEO has hinted at abandoning the weekly schedule, meaning our series on hiatus is due for some changes. If Boruto were to transition into a seasonal series, it would undoubtedly meet and exceed our expectations!

As an ardent fan myself, I can’t contain my excitement for the upcoming second part of Boruto! After what seemed like an eternity, we’re finally getting closer to its return. The fresh production schedule promises a smooth journey, and the content that the series will bring to life is simply astonishing. Rest assured, Boruto will come back with renewed vigor, solidifying its position as a worthy successor to the epic Naruto series.
