Boston University is speaking out.
Following the accusations made by Alex Cooper, who played soccer for the college from 2013 to 2015, in her recent docuseries titled “Call Her Alex”, the educational institution responded to these allegations concerning her former coach Nancy Feldman.
Boston University clearly has a firm stance against sexual harassment as stated to TopMob News on June 13. They provide a comprehensive network of resources, support, and staff aimed at promoting student wellness. Additionally, they have an extensive system in place for reporting incidents through their Equal Opportunity Office.
As a devoted member of our community, I’m always eager to support the wellbeing of our shared space. If you have any worries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to voice them. Rest assured that our commitment is unwavering in creating an atmosphere where everyone feels safe and secure on campus.
After the unveiling of her docuseries on June 10, which delves into the reported mistreatment she endured, Cooper intensified her criticism towards the university and Feldman, accusing them of negligence in handling the situation.
On Instagram, June 12th, it was stated that Nancy Feldman was someone I had placed trust in. She was someone I held faith in. She was meant to aid me in growth and safeguard me. However, rather than doing so, she transformed my life into a living nightmare by misusing her position of power over me.
In simpler terms, the host of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast claimed that someone had robbed her of her identity and all she’d worked for throughout her life due to their lack of self-control. This event significantly affected her life for a decade with no impact on the other person’s life whatsoever. However, there was no one held accountable, no investigation conducted, and no justice served in the matter.
topmob news contacted Feldman for a response, but hasn’t received one yet. Neither Feldman nor BU have made any public comments regarding Cooper’s accusations.
After discovering that others claimed they were still encountering similar harassment (even though Nancy stepped down from BU in 2022), Cooper expressed her desire to share her personal account of the situation. She had already made comparable statements during a panel discussion at the Tribeca Film Festival last week, where she asserted that she became aware of the alleged persistence of such misconduct at the institution.
Initially, when this situation occurred, I felt silenced. However, things have changed now. I’m ready to confront everyone who misused their power against vulnerable young people.
In the show, Cooper, who is now 30 years old, claimed that Feldman had an increasing obsession with her, more than with her fellow team members. She further stated, “His interest centered around inquiring about whom I was seeing romantically, making remarks about my physique, and constantly desiring to be alone with me.
She charged Feldman with engaging in a “disturbing game of, ‘Let’s talk about your intimate relationships. Hop in the car with me for your evening class, we’ll go together alone.’
“If I didn’t follow this woman’s rules,” she said, “I was gone.”
