Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman Weigh In on Aimee Lou Wood’s SNL Drama with Shocking Revelations!

The storyline in ‘The White Lotus’ concluded a couple of weeks ago according to the 2025 TV schedule. In reality, though, there’s been some behind-the-scenes tension among the cast members. For instance, following a parody of the show on Saturday Night Live, Aimee Lou Wood expressed disapproval, labeling it as “mean and unfunny.” This comment was then addressed by Bowen Yang. Most recently, another SNL cast member, Chloe Fineman, has weighed in on the entire situation.

In the sketch titled “The White Potus” during SNL 50, hosted by Jon Hamm, Sarah Sherman portrayed Aimee Lou Wood, who plays Chelsea in the recent HBO series. In this performance, Sherman donned a set of false teeth, which has been a topic of discussion for Wood before. Although Wood finds it acceptable for SNL to make fun, she prefers the jokes to be “more intelligent,” “subtler,” and less “vulgar.

In response, Bowen Yang called Wood’s criticism “completely valid.” Then, Chloe Fineman was asked about it by ET, and she said:

What you’re expressing is that the creations are made with deep affection. To clarify, I wasn’t responsible for writing the script or making decisions about it. However, Sarah [Sherman] and Amiee are greatly admired by me, and I had tried to include Amiee in something previously. Everything was done out of love, and we have since moved forward from that point.

In the drawing, mimicking “The White Lotus” but with Donald Trump as a character, Fineman portrayed a version of Parker Posey’s Southern persona. At the same time, Sarah Sherman was playing the role of Aimee Lou Wood while sporting false teeth and discussing dentistry and fluoride with Jon Hamm’s RJK Jr.

In response to the situation unfolding, Sarah Sherman sent flowers, as rumors circulated that SNL hadn’t officially apologized to her. Later, when Yang was questioned about the sketch, he supported the feelings expressed by the actress from Sex Education, stating that she was right in feeling this way.

Occasionally, it’s beneficial to remember that satire or humor can occasionally cross a line, and it’s important for us as comedians to acknowledge this responsibility instead of merely defending our freedom of speech by asserting that we have the right to say anything without limits, because that’s just part of our culture.

Now, Fineman has joined the discussion with her thoughts. She stated that she wasn’t responsible for writing the sketch. Furthermore, she mentioned that both she and Sherman deeply admire Wood. She explained that the sketch was created out of affection, and expressed that they have moved past this point.

As time progresses, there could be more discussion about SNL and The White Lotus, as Walton Goggins, who reportedly has a disagreement with Wood following their work together on the HBO series, is scheduled to host on May 10. Yet, at present, it seems everyone is just focusing on moving past that controversial sketch.
