Although he’s well recognized for hosting popular entertainment programs such as The Chase and Gladiators, Bradley Walsh will be stepping into a distinct presenting position for the new documentary titled Bradley Walsh: Deciphering Egypt’s Celestial Secrets.
The three-part documentary series is set to air on Sky HISTORY in March, focusing on Walsh’s journey as he realizes a lifelong dream: exploring the monuments of Ancient Egypt and uncovering secrets about how such “ancient world wonders” were built 4,500 years ago. This summary captures the essence of what is to come.
Fans of Walsh can expect to see him portray a character quite different from those he has played before, delving into topics close to his heart such as engineering, while also presenting intriguing ideas and asking thought-provoking questions throughout the show, fueled by his lifelong fascination with Ancient Egypt.
As per the show summary: “Bradley, a pyramid enthusiast, embarks on an exciting adventure through the ‘Land of the Pharaohs’. He’ll be accompanied by Dr Meredith Brand from the American University in Cairo and Dr Arto Belekdanian. Initially, Bradley will scrutinize the development of pyramid construction, starting with the Step Pyramid of King Djoser, progressing to the Red and Bent Pyramids of Pharaoh Sneferu at Dahshur, and finally examining the Great Pyramid at Giza using his engineering expertise.
This sets up his exploration for more inquiries about The Sphinx’s mystery, origin, and ancient meanings, a topic that scholars have debated extensively. He will then delve into understanding the Egyptian fascination with death and the afterlife during his quest.
Bradley finishes off the series by achieving his dream of exploring the Luxor tomb of the well-known and brief-reigned Egyptian king, Tutankhamun, in an attempt to solve the enigmas surrounding the ascent and decline of Egypt’s most celebrated royal lineage.
Regarding the series, Walsh expresses: “Ever since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by Ancient Egypt. And now, actually living it, has that enchanting, magical feel.
I’m curious about many things, particularly who constructed the pyramids and why and how they did it. Delving into Egypt’s most famous ancient structures and conversing with knowledgeable individuals such as Meredith Brand and Arto Belekdanian seems like an ideal method for uncovering these secrets.
Egypt offers an enchanting and mysterious experience, and this voyage is certain to be an unforgettable odyssey.
The show has been approved for broadcast on Sky HISTORY, and Dan Korn, the VP of programming at Hearst Networks EMEA, expressed his excitement: “We can’t wait to collaborate with Studio Crook, GroupM Motion Entertainment, and Bradley on this extraordinary journey that comes around rarely.
Bradley’s enthusiasm and curiosity perfectly match what Sky HISTORY fans appreciate, and his queries often lead to fascinating discoveries about the lifestyles, customs, and ideas of our long-lost ancestors.
