Brian Austin Green’s Ex Defends Son Kassius Against Online Trolls

Vanessa Marcil is standing up for her son.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the alumna from Las Vegas strongly criticized individuals who hurled homophobic remarks at her, particularly concerning her 23-year-old openly gay son, Kassius Marcil-Green, whom she shares with her ex, Brian Austin Green. Her response was a lengthy discussion on religion.

In a post on June 10th, Kassius provided a screenshot of a message from a user criticizing his sexuality as a sin. He then explained in the caption how this woman, and many others like her who identify as Christian, frequently use their free time to tell him that his child is destined for hell.

Vanessa went on to say, “Frankly, I’ve had enough of the hypocritical behavior from those calling themselves Christians. I recognize genuine Christians and God. In the eyes of Jesus, you and your attacks against innocent, decent children, as well as all marginalized groups, do not align. Please refrain from using religion to fuel hatred.

The actress from General Hospital also disclosed that not only internet users, but people she knows offline as well, often convey similar sentiments.

Vanessa mentioned that she has relatives who are similar to her, and they often come across as being subtly hostile while pretending to be kind.

Instead, she emphasized that her personal understanding of Jesus’ lessons encourages avoiding the act of judging others.

Vanessa stated that according to Jesus, we should treat our neighbors with the same love and care as we do ourselves. She pointed out that gossip can negatively impact people’s reputations and relationships, and she noted that this behavior often originates from pride and a need to feel superior to others. Jesus’ teachings on humility remind us to be conscious of our words and actions, she added.

She emphasized that Jesus advised against criticizing others because we all have imperfections. Spreading rumors about people usually involves judging them, which can cause disagreements and separation. Jesus understood the influence of words to either strengthen or damage. He advocated for uplifting and constructive conversations, a direct contrast to gossip.

In addition to him, Brian (who has children Noah, 11, Bodhi, 10, and Journey, 7 with ex-wife Megan Fox, and Zion, 2 with partner Sharna Burgess) has also openly expressed his support for Kassius since he publicly identified as gay.

On Lance Bass’ Frosted Tips podcast in October, Brian shared that he didn’t know his son was gay beforehand, stating that while many people are afraid of what they don’t understand, he is not.

The 51-year-old expressed curiosity and a desire to learn more about it. In my discussions with Kash, I found myself eager to grasp concepts that initially seemed strange to me but later realized they weren’t so different after all; they were simply a matter of personal preference in choosing a partner, which had no impact on me personally.

In addition to him, Brian (who has children Noah, 11, Bodhi, 10, and Journey, 7 with ex-wife Megan Fox, and Zion, 2, with fiancée Sharna Burgess) has also openly expressed his support for Kassius, following his announcement that he is gay.

The 51-year-old stated, “I find it fascinating, and I’m eager to learn more about it.” In my discussions with Kash, it was as if I yearned to grasp concepts that initially appeared alien to me, but eventually, I realized they weren’t so different after all. Instead, it boils down to the choice of partner, something that doesn’t impact me in any way.

Previously a contestant on “Dancing With the Stars,” he expressed that he consistently aims to convey the same message of acceptance to others, fostering broader understanding among people.

Brian clarified, ‘This is the point I’ve been emphasizing lately.’ He asked, ‘Why let it bother you so much? Why try to force your emotions and opinions on a matter that has no impact on you whatsoever?’

Megan seldom showcases Journey and his siblings on social platforms, primarily because she aimed to shield them from the internet as much as possible when they were young. She explained this in an interview with Glamour UK in 2022, stating that she wanted to preserve their innocence and limit their exposure to the online world. However, she acknowledges that she can’t safeguard them forever.

Brian’s golden rule for co-parenting? Choosing which disagreements to prioritize. He explained to TopMob News in 2024 that many people mistakenly believe they can do things to prevent their separation from affecting the children. “Of course it will affect the children,” he said. “The only option you have is how it impacts the children.

Megan chooses not to express any negative feelings towards her children’s father when they are present. As she stated on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2023, “I don’t allow any such energy around my kids,” because if I don’t approve and love their father, it means I am rejecting a part of them since he is an essential piece of who they are.

Brian shared that he underwent a vasectomy about eight weeks after Zane’s birth, but this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s irreversible for him. Speaking on the Oldish podcast in January, Sharna expressed they would consider reversing it if circumstances allow: “If we have the chance and the means to do so, we’d be overjoyed! I definitely would,” she said. However, with four young children in the household and life being hectic, they find themselves quite busy at the moment.
