Brian Volk-Weiss Says There Are Classic Animation IPs He Wants Still Wants to Make

As a nostalgic 80’s kid, I can’t help but feel a wave of excitement and nostalgia reading about Brian Volk-Weiss‘ latest projects! His dedication to reviving beloved childhood properties like “Biker Mice From Mars” and “RoboForce” is nothing short of remarkable.

Brian Volk-Weiss, renowned for his work on The Toys That Made Us, has since ventured into the realm of toy manufacturing and animation, developing new series inspired by cherished intellectual properties from his childhood. With the return of Biker Mice From Mars and upcoming episodes of RoboForce , Volk-Weiss shared with ComicBook that there are still some shows he dreams of reintroducing to toy stores, and he’s currently working on reviving some of them.

Volk-Weiss mentioned a challenge lies in communicating with intellectual property owners, many of whom are the originators themselves, reluctant to relinquish control or allow others to manage their creations and heritage.

Currently, yes, but we’re involved in negotiations for two IPs at present. This process is complex because we often need to secure rights from creators, who consider their creations as their children. I understand your sentiment towards “Toys that Made Us” and the character Detonator from “RoboForce”, as he’s like my own creation. It can be challenging to persuade creators to let go, especially when they’re in their later years and haven’t produced anything new for a long time. We propose that by working together, we can generate income and revive these beloved characters. The difficulty lies in convincing them gradually, as they need to understand that they can’t take these creations with them upon leaving. However, I’m glad to see that our work on “RoboForce” and “Biker Mice from Mars” is starting to make an impact, as the toys for these IPs are already being produced shortly after we acquired the rights, much like “Moo Mesa”.

In the year 2089, the revamped iteration of RoboForce, created by Soraya Aviram, was unveiled with intentions to aid an emerging interstellar community on Earth. Regrettably, on the same day, Soraya’s rival, Silas Duke, introduced his Utopia Aegis 101 series of robots, which rendered RoboForce instantly outdated. Over the next 15 years, RoboForce disbanded and were relegated to lowly jobs with no prospect of returning to heroism… Until all of a sudden, a malicious software infiltrated the Utopia Aegis 101 robots, compelling them to attack humanity. Only Maxx 89 and the rest of RoboForce stand a chance at preventing this catastrophe.

The television series is being overseen by Brian Volk-Weiss, who is also the director, along with Cisco Henson, Matt Kravitsky, Michael Goodman, Tom Stern, and Gavin Hignight from Nacelle. Additionally, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Brian Gewirtz will serve as executive producers for Seven Bucks Productions.
