The BBC has revealed the actors for its upcoming series titled “The Dream Lands,” a compelling six-episode drama centered around a powerful narrative of love, resilience, and determination fueled by hope and the indomitable will to survive.
The main roles are filled by Pascale Kann, a fresh face in the industry, along with Anna Friel (from Marcella), Connor Swindells (SAS Rogue Heroes), Clara Rugaard (Black Mirror), Katherine Parkinson (Rivals) and Golda Rosheuvel (Bridgerton).
The TV show is developed from the book “Dreamland” penned by Rosa Rankin-Gee, with screenplay written by the BAFTA-winning author Kayleigh Llewellyn.
Additionally, we have Jacob Greenway (from The Watchers), Tareq Al-Jeddal (known for Ridley), Scarlett Rayner (recognized from Trying), Ruby Bridle (familiar face in Casualty) and Raphael Sowole (featured in The Crow Girl).
In the not-too-distant future of Margate, I find myself immersed in “The Dream Lands,” a captivating tale where my character, Chance (Kann), embarks on a journey of self-discovery, love, and survival. Amidst a world that’s rapidly deteriorating around me, I must fight for the safety and wellbeing of my beloved family and friends.
The story proceeds: “It’s the year 2039, and temperatures are skyrocketing, sea levels are rising, and the political landscape is just as ominous. Chance leads a life of illegal activities to make ends meet, but her community is targeted for a government revitalization project, offering to breathe new life into their coastal town.
However, when Chance finds herself smitten by Franky, who has connections to the establishment, she, along with her nearest confidants, start to suspect that things might not be as straightforward as they initially appeared.
Kayleigh Llewellyn, who is both a writer and an executive producer, expressed her profound admiration for this exceptional cast, each one carefully selected by our talented casting director, Rachel Sheridan.
