Bridgerton casts Harry Potter star as production begins on season 4

As a film enthusiast with a soft spot for historical dramas and a lifelong obsession with period pieces, I must admit that I am positively thrilled about the fourth season of Bridgerton! The addition of Katie Leung, Michelle Mao, Isabella Wei, Emma Naomi, Hugh Sachs, and Yerin Ha to the cast is nothing short of exhilarating.

The production for the eagerly awaited fourth season of Netflix’s historical series, Bridgerton, has commenced. Three fresh faces have been incorporated into the cast.

For the upcoming season, we have two new additions: Katie Leung, known from Harry Potter and Nightsleeper, portraying Lady Araminta Gun, and Michelle Mao, recognized for her roles in Goosebumps and FBI: Most Wanted, playing Rosamund Li.

Furthermore, Isabella Wei, portraying Posy Li, joins the cast this season. It’s also confirmed that actress Alice Mondrich’s character from “Emma” and Hugh Sachs, known for his role in “Brimsley,” will be key players in our ensemble this season.

As a seasoned film critic, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming fourth installment of the captivating Bridgerton series will shift its focus from the eldest to the second Bridgerton son, Benedict. This time around, our attention will be drawn to his intriguing journey in search of the radiant Lady in Silver, none other than Sophie Baek, brilliantly portrayed by Yerin Ha. Get ready for a riveting tale filled with romance, intrigue, and the charm that only the Bridgerton family can provide!

In a new role introduced by Leung, we meet Araminta – a woman with a unique history. She’s been married and lost both husbands, leaving her as a double widow. She now has two daughters who are about to enter society through the ‘marriage market’.

She’s often characterized as being fabulous, perceptive, and straightforward. However, it’s worth mentioning that she tends to react unfavorably whenever her position in society is challenged, be it by things or people.

In the meantime, Mao’s daughter, Rosamund (or Araminta’s oldest child), holds a special place in her mother’s heart. This cherished individual has her eyes set on Benedict and is resolute about securing him for herself.

In a simpler phrasing, Wei’s character, Posy, is Rosamund’s little sister and tends to be more compassionate, yet their mother seldom highlights or draws attention towards Posy.

The announcement was made that the series will be shooting at new filming sites this season, specifically at a recently built section of Shepperton Studios, boasting reproductions of Georgian and Regency structures.

In this season, I’m sharing the screen with some fantastic actors like Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton), Victor Alli (Lord John Stirling), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Julie Andrews (Lady Whistledown), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Masali Baduza (Michaela Stirling), Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Bridgerton) and Hannah Dodd (Francesca Stirling). Quite a star-studded cast, wouldn’t you say?

In addition to these actors, you’ll find Daniel Francis portraying Lord Marcus Anderson, Ruth Gemmell as Violet Bridgerton, Florence Hunt playing Hyacinth Bridgerton, Martins Imhangbe in the role of Will Mondrich, Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton, Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte, Will Tilston as Gregory Bridgterton, and Polly Walker as Portia Featherington.

Bridgerton season 3 is now available to stream on Netflix. Seasons 1 and 2 are also streaming now on Netflix. You can buy the Bridgerton book series on Amazon.
