Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey in first look at major Hollywood film role

As a film enthusiast with decades of cinematic experiences under my belt, I must say that the announcement of Jonathan Bailey joining the Jurassic World franchise is nothing short of exhilarating! The British actor has proven his mettle with his stellar performances, and his addition to this iconic series promises an exciting new chapter.

Actor Jonathan Bailey from Bridgerton will appear in Jurassic World: Rebirth, a revival of the well-known movie series, along with two other major stars from Hollywood.

For many years, the well-known British actor has graced our television screens since his early days, but his fame has soared to extraordinary levels after landing a standout performance in Netflix’s popular romantic period piece.

In the upcoming movie “Rebirth,” he steps into the main part previously held by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard (from Jurassic Park), sharing the screen with Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Mahershala Ali (two-time Oscar winner from True Detective).

I stumbled upon a sneak peek image, featuring myself as a fan, spotting my favorite characters – Dr. Henry Loomis, the palaeontologist from Bailey’s series, and Zora Bennett, Johansson’s covert operations expert, both seemingly on an adventure in the wilderness. As a die-hard dinosaur flick enthusiast, here’s how I might rephrase the synopsis from Universal Studios for a more conversational tone: “Five years after the chaotic events of Jurassic World Dominion, our planet seems less than ideal for our scaly friends.”

“Surviving species inhabit secluded equatorial ecosystems, similar to their historical habitats. Among these tropical dwellers, the three largest creatures harbor the secret to a groundbreaking medicine that could save countless human lives.”

The story continues by disclosing that Zora has been hired to head a talented group for a highly classified operation aimed at obtaining genetic samples from the colossal beings mentioned earlier. However, it’s only a matter of time before complications arise.

When Zora’s surgery coincides with a civilian family whose boat trip is overturned by aggressive marine dinosaurs, they all end up stranded on an island. There, they uncover a chilling secret that has remained concealed from the world for many years.

Universal Studios unveiled a sneak peek of the character played by Ali, namely Duncan Kincaid, a loyal confidant to the main character. In the glimpse, Kincaid is depicted using a red flare against a dark backdrop, apparently diverting an ominous and destructive dinosaur.

In a new twist, the film “Jurassic World: Rebirth” is helmed by Gareth Edwards, who has previously delivered hit movies like the 2014 Godzilla reboot, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” and more recently, an intriguing AI-focused thriller titled “The Creator.”

In the ensemble, I find myself appreciating Rupert Friend portraying Martin Krebs, a pharmaceutical representative from Homeland. Additionally, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, known for The Lincoln Lawyer, and Luna Blaise, star of Manifest, lend their talents to the story. Lastly, David Iacono, who graced Dead Boy Detectives, rounds out our cast as a member of the shipwrecked family.

Despite facing unfavorable criticisms and the challenging movie theater environment following the pandemic, the Jurassic World franchise has shown remarkable durability, earning over $1 billion with 2022’s Dominion. We’ll soon find out if Rebirth can maintain this impressive box office success.

Jurassic World: Rebirth is coming to cinemas on 2nd July 2025.
