As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the rise and fall of MMOs to the evolution of class systems. Brighter Shores has certainly piqued my interest, but their unique approach to classes has left me scratching my head.
In the realm of Brighter Shores, the class system is quite distinctive, making it challenging to decide on the optimal class for selection.
In this game, they’re ditching the conventional roles like Fighters and Mages in favor of less common, mixed classes that blend traditional ones. To add an extra twist, your class isn’t chosen during character creation but rather after you’ve played for a while, around the 3-hour mark.
Worry not, however, this guide will help you pick the best class for you in Brighter Shores.
Which Is The Best Class To Choose?
At the onset of play, remember that you won’t have the option to pick your character class right away. Instead, initially, you’ll be a Guard. It’s only until Episode 2, Hopeforest, that you’ll get the chance to choose a permanent class. So, don’t worry about making a decision for a bit!
Upon hitting Episode 2, you’ll find yourself elevated from a Guard to a Scout. What’s more, this transition opens up an exciting opportunity for you to choose one out of three distinct Factions to align with. Your selection will permanently shape your character class. At present, it’s important to note that once you’ve made this choice, you won’t be able to switch classes later on.
Initially, each of these three gaming classes seem identical, with their main difference lying in the type of elemental damage they dish out. This sameness is set to be addressed as the game evolves, but right now it’s hard to pick one class over another due to a lack of significant differences. However, every class can wield both melee and ranged skills, even magic ones, which adds a lot of versatility to each playstyle. In essence, this flexibility means that the gameplay for all classes will share similarities, at least for now.
The Three Current Classes
With all of that said, here’s a quick rundown of the 3 Faction classes currently in the game:
- Cryoknight – Masters of ice and cold, their attacks deal Cryonae damage. Their skills will focus on freezing enemies to control and weaken them.
- Guardian – Intended to be the Tank archetype, they deal Arborae damage. They focus on defense and will get skills to help keep themselves and their allies alive.
- Hammermage – Meant to be the most straightforward class for dealing pure damage. They have a focus on the Tempestae element and master both physical and magic skills.
In essence, the ideal class for you at Bright Shores is subjective and depends on which one catches your interest the most. At present, they all perform fairly similarly without much difference among them. Even the damage types associated with each element don’t significantly impact gameplay; they merely make certain classes more or less effective against specific opponents. However, this balance might shift as the game progresses, but we can’t foresee which class will ultimately prove to be the best overall in the long run.
