Bristol Palin is opening up about her son Tripp Johnston’s latest chapter.
On the first day of school picture, Bristol showcased her daughters Sailor Grace (8 years old) and Atlee Bay (7 years old), whom she co-parents with ex-husband Dakota Meyer. She also mentioned that their 15-year-old son has recently returned to Alaska to live.
On Instagram, the 33-year-old expressed that this ‘first day of school’ was particularly challenging as a significant part of her heart was absent. She shared that Tripp, their son with Levi Johnston, has chosen to complete high school in Alaska so he can be nearer to his father and the entire family.
Bristol went on to note that her son’s passion for hunting and fishing drove the decision.
“Despite the difficulty in accepting it, his decision isn’t driven by my wishes – as his daughter of Todd and Sarah Palin stated. At nearly 16, his bond with his father is profound, outweighing my desire to keep him close. I can hardly discuss this without tears, but I am secretly hoping for a swift year and an effortless transition for us all.”
Bristol moved from Alaska to Texas during her marriage with Dakota, and following their 2018 divorce, she chose to remain in Texas primarily for the well-being of her children.
Previously, the conflict between the ex-partners unfolded on ‘Teen Mom OG’, as Bristol accused Dakota of acting “small-minded” and removing items from their shared room in their Texas residence.
In 2022, she shared that the exes had gotten into a good rhythm as coparents.
She posted on Instagram a family picture with Dakota and their children, noting, “Co-parenting harmoniously simplifies life.” She advised, “Set aside past issues, disagreements, and so forth, and prioritize what’s best for your kids, never forgetting this fundamental aspect.”
Back in 2008, Bristol found herself making headlines nationwide due to her pregnancy, an event that coincided with her mother’s vice presidential run alongside Senator John McCain. Prior to this, Bristol has been open about her personal story of becoming a mother.
“At just 17, I became a mother of three and it’s clear that my life doesn’t conform to the stereotype of a traditional family. You don’t need much background about me to realize this.
