BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW adds PS5 version

The production company, Shochiku, together with Serafini Productions, plans to unveil a PlayStation 5 adaptation of the survival horror game “BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW”. This announcement comes in addition to their previously revealed PC (Steam) version, as confirmed by the developers.

Here is an overview of the game, via Serafini Productions:

An Interconnected Anthology of Horror

In the intriguing universe of BrokenLore, each game offers a self-contained story, yet they all piece together to form a larger, gradually unfolding tale – a grand tapestry of lore that weaves together thread by thread. Drawing inspiration from complex themes such as personal pain, identity, and social unease, the series skillfully combines dreamlike ambiences, folklore, and psychological introspection to craft a one-of-a-kind horror storytelling adventure.

This saga is tailored for players who appreciate the finer details – those who delight in deciphering clues, interpreting symbols, and unmasking hidden truths amidst distorted timelines and fluid realities. Following the releases of LOW and DON’T WATCH on Steam, we will soon add two more chapters to the series: UNFOLLOW and FOLLOW. These complementary experiences promise to delve even further into the darkest origins of the series.

Horror Behind the Screen

In the game UNFOLLOW, players assume the character of Anne, a young woman caught in a terrifying ordeal of comments, alerts, and subconscious apprehensions. The game delves into the damaging effects of social media on mental well-being using a haunting, symbol-filled narrative that confronts cyberbullying, body image distortion, and the overwhelming urge for validation.

In the game, every setting, character, and conversation serves as a piece of Anne’s broken mind, creating a dynamic experience that changes based on player decisions and results in various conclusions, each providing a unique perspective on her narrative. UNFOLLOW transcends psychological horror; it is a profound exploration of contemporary vulnerability and the price one pays for visibility.

Social Networks, Social Pressure, and Digital Identity: the Game’s Core Themes

In today’s world, each move we make can be recorded, evaluated, and broadcasted. The platform UNFOLLOW, however, transforms this conundrum into an interactive horror: the relentless pursuit of validation becomes oppressive, and the boundary between what we present and who we truly are becomes increasingly unclear.

The game mirrors the authentic experiences of numerous content creators on the internet, such as Akidearest – a widely recognized YouTube personality – who is integrated into the project as a character.

In my role, I produce videos detailing aspects of my life in Japan, occasionally delving into Japanese culture, anime, and gaming. This has been a part of my routine for approximately ten years now, with its share of highs and lows. Social media platforms can be quite captivating, offering both benefits and drawbacks. I believe they serve as excellent outlets for individuals to express themselves and connect, but they can also negatively impact one’s mental well-being. There are numerous people who eagerly await any mistakes or swiftly categorize you based on misconceptions. My strategy for dealing with such situations has been to avoid direct interaction, which is not always easy to do.

If you persevere through difficult times, like navigating a storm, you will find that things get better. Many of my struggles with social media have been internal, but it has taken me some time to learn how to shrug off negative interactions and let go. My advice for those dealing with mental health issues is to take a break from social media, even if just temporarily. If you can, step outside, connect with friends or simply enjoy some solitude in nature. You’ll come to understand that the real world isn’t defined by social media. People are carrying on with their lives, and the earth keeps turning. If you give yourself a break, you’ll find peace.
