Bronny James is trying to keep his head in the game.
The NBA player recently looked back on his rookie year, admitting that he expected nepotism would often be a topic in his career, given that he is LeBron James’ son. Regardless of his readiness, navigating through this reality wasn’t effortless.
In the interview with The Athletic on March 20th, Bronny expressed: “Initially, I aim to filter criticism through like it’s background noise, focus on my work and maintain a positive outlook daily. However, at times, their comments do stir me up a bit. People seem to think I’m just a machine without feelings or sensitivity.
Despite this, the 20-year-old, who balances his time between the Los Angeles Lakers (where his father plays) and their G League team, has handled criticism gracefully under the guidance of the Lakers’ general manager, Rob Pelinka.
He explained, “I’ll use that as motivation to start my day early, hit the gym, do my additional tasks, watch extra videos every day, and improve daily. That’s what Rob expects of me as a young player joining the G League, learning from afar while watching the Lakers play.
During times when Bronny disregards negativity, he still values constructive criticism. To illustrate, he reassessed his gameplay following fan comments suggesting he needed improvement in maintaining consistency with his statistics.
He began to realize that this situation led him to question if others thought he lacked consistency, skill, and productivity as a player. However, after examining the data about himself and watching his gameplay, he grew more confident in his abilities. This increased self-belief bolstered his confidence.
And he knows that the proof is on the court.
He expressed confidence in his growth, stating that it’s not only about enhancing his playing skills, but also adopting a new approach to the game. Now, he feels comfortable and assured, recognizing the advancement he has made.

Born as LeBron James Jr. on October 6, 2004, Bronny James excelled at high school basketball for Chatsworth Sierra Canyon located within the San Fernando Valley. After his graduation, he moved on to the University of Southern California.
Despite the demanding NBA schedule sometimes preventing LeBron from attending all of his son’s games, he has made significant efforts to witness Bronny play live. In fact, on one off-day, he even rented a plane to watch Sierra Canyon face off against his own high school alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary in Akron, Ohio.
LeBron shared with reporters that he was going to watch his son play, not just any team but his own alma mater as well. He described it as an incredibly unique, full-circle moment that seems almost too good to be true.
In June 2024, Bronny got selected for the Los Angeles Lakers, an event that marked him and LeBron as the initial pair of a father-son duo to simultaneously play in the NBA.
Additionally, contributing to the Sierra Canyon star-studded team is none other than Zaire Wade, the oldest child of the retired Miami Heat player (and previously teamed with LeBron James), Dwyane Wade.
Zaire, who joined the team in December 2019 from Florida, expressed to Yahoo! Sports that they need to accept the extraordinary focus being directed towards them, as their every move seems to be under constant scrutiny. “I’ve been accustomed to attention throughout my life, but this is off the charts,” he said, emphasizing that this level of interest is unlike anything he’s experienced before.
Indeed, I found myself discontented with the limited game minutes I was receiving. To seek more opportunities and grow as a player, I announced on Instagram in April 2020 my decision to transfer to Brewster Academy, located in Wolfeboro, Florida.
In the 2021 NBA G League draft, Zaire was chosen as the 10th pick and joined the Salt Lake City Stars. Subsequently, he played for Cape Town Tigers in the Basketball Africa League, and in April 2024, he signed with a team in the ASEAN Basketball League.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an inspiring story about Cha’iel Johnson, a young athlete who’s making waves in the world of track and field. At just 12 years old, she represented herself with grace and athleticism at the 2017 AAU Junior Olympics. Her victory in the girls’ 800-meter run showcases her remarkable talent and potential for greatness – a fact that might one day make me, a retired football star, look back in awe at what this extraordinary daughter of mine has achieved.
Prior to becoming a part of the University of Kentucky’s sports team, she competed for St. Thomas Aquinas High School, which is located in Florida.
As a die-hard admirer, let me share a tale about the NBA legend’s third offspring, towering at an impressive 6-foot-10. This prodigious figure graced the courts of UCLA before fate took a turn. A silent adversary within, a heart condition, demanded his attention, leading to a necessary surgical intervention.
Following his absence during the 2018-19 academic year at the Californian institution, he opted to move to Louisiana State University. Outside their Basketball Practice Facility stands a massive, 900-pound bronze statue of Shaq, paying tribute to one of LSU’s esteemed alumni.
Following his graduation from LSU, the basketball standout signed up with the NBA G League Ignite – a developmental basketball team within the NBA G League – in the year 2022.
Shaq’s daughter, who stands at 6 feet 2 inches tall (as seen here alongside her brother Shareef O’Neal), revealed in 2020 that she would be attending LSU, joining her brother in representing the university on their college basketball team.
Making the transition from high school to college is one of the toughest decisions for someone my age, she admitted. Yet, despite not knowing exactly what lies ahead, I am eager to face the challenge. Honestly, I never thought I’d say this, but I’m thrilled to announce that I have decided to become a student-athlete at LSU, joining my brother Shareef O’Neal. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to spend the next four years as a Tiger.
Subsequently, she joined Texas Southern University’s basketball team for the 2021-2022 season.
During her academic years at Sierra Canyon, the oldest child of two-time NBA All-Star Zack Randolph played basketball with fellow NBA star offspring Izela Arenas, daughter of Gilbert Arenas, as a teammate.
Randolph shared with the Los Angeles Times in December 2020 that he attended Michigan State under coach Tom Izzo. He described Izzo as tough and firm, adding that boys could handle such treatment, while girls might seem delicate but still require a unique kind of care and understanding from their coaches.
Mackenly stated that she had managed to defeat her father on three separate occasions during one-on-one matches, humorously adding, “He lacks defensive skills.
In 2019, a young man standing at 6 feet 3 inches, who is the son of an NFL Hall of Famer, decided to attend Florida Atlantic University as a preferred walk-on. Growing up, Terique primarily focused on basketball, but transitioned to football during his teenage years. His post-high school football career began at Contra Costa Community College before he transferred.
After his college football career, Terique signed with the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad.
A student who graduated from Sierra Canyon High School was a starter throughout his entire time there and clinched two state championships. Following this, he played college basketball for Vanderbilt University. In 2022, he secured a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Following a short period with the NBA’s farm team, the South Bay Lakers, Scott Jr., secured a two-way deal with the Memphis Grizzlies in the year 2024.
As a diehard fan, I can attest that the legendary ex-Chicago Bulls player, a five-time NBA champion, is not just his accomplishments—he’s also a loving father to his kids.
In brief, Dennis Rodman Jr., often referred to as DJ, showcased his athletic abilities in both basketball and football while attending Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, California. Following his high school graduation, he continued his career as a forward at Washington State University. In the year 2023, he transferred to the University of Southern California.
In a conversation with the Orange County Register following a game in 2017, his high school coach, Ryan Schachter, noted that he was one of the less recognized or lesser-known players in Southern California.
After his college career, DJ joined Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League in 2024.
While DJ, Dennis’ son, pursued a career in basketball like his father, his daughter Trinity Rodman forged her unique path in the realm of soccer. The cancellation of her freshman season with Washington State Cougars due to the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t deter her. Instead, she opted for professionalism and joined Washington Spirit in 2021, followed by being recruited for the United States women’s national soccer team in 2022.
In 2024, Trinity won Olympic gold as part of Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
It’s perfectly appropriate that the greatest golfer of all time, or GOAT, has a son who possesses extraordinary talents on the golf course. At just 11 years old, Charlie Woods made his television debut while playing golf with his father at the 2020 PNC Championship.
When queried if he had been practicing his golf swing before their upcoming father-son event, the 15-time major champion responded, “I haven’t spent any effort on it. Honestly, I’m not particularly concerned about my own game. I’m just ensuring that Charlie has a fantastic time and can fully enjoy everything here.
