For example, Bryan Cranston was chosen to portray Zordon, and this character is the original Red Ranger. This significant role in the movie indicated that Cranston had a substantial part to play. Given his high-profile acting status, such a role seemed uncommon and demanding, yet it could have revived fond memories for Cranston, given his prior connection to the Power Rangers series.
