Bryan Danielson Will Remain With AEW "For a Long Time" Following Full-Time Wrestling Retirement

As a die-hard wrestling fan and fervent admirer of Bryan Danielson‘s illustrious career, I am both elated and saddened by his recent announcement. For nearly a quarter of a century, Danielson has graced the wrestling world with his unparalleled skill, determination, and charisma. His decision to retire from full-time wrestling in 2024 and focus on spending more time with his family is a testament to his commitment to maintaining balance in his life.

Bryan Danielson has announced that he will be retiring from full-time professional wrestling by the end of this year. In 2023, Danielson, also known as The American Dragon, shared that he intended to devote most of his time to his family starting in 2024. Although Danielson might still wrestle occasionally in the future, these matches will likely be sporadic events rather than a regular fixture. Danielson has been a full-time wrestler for almost a quarter-century and joined AEW in the summer of 2021 with a three-year contract. The specific date when his agreement ends is undisclosed, but it seems that he intends to stay with AEW for an extended period.

The American Dragon will continue to call AEW his chambers.

During an interview on “The Rich Eisen Show,” AEW president Tony Khan shared that Bryan Danielson intends to stay with AEW for the long term, past his active wrestling career.

As a gamer, I can only imagine how fortunate we are to have Bryan on our team for the long haul. His commitment to staying with us is clear, and I eagerly anticipate the many adventures we’ll embark on together in the years to come. I truly hope that Bryan will be an enduring member of our gaming community.

Currently, it’s unclear what specific role Danielson will have in AEW after his wrestling career ends. Danielson holds great influence in AEW’s locker room and is highly respected by Khan. He frequently collaborates with top AEW executives to create storylines. In fact, Khan has expressed that if he were unable to continue leading AEW, he would trust Danielson the most to take over the company.

“Bryan Danielson is an essential captain among our team, contributing significantly to our leadership and community. His time in the ring may be coming to an end this year, making it a bittersweet moment for professional wrestling and me personally. Yet, it’s rewarding to have him around as a mentor and colleague each week.”

I’m geared up and ready to go against Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship title at AEW ALL IN: London coming up on Sunday, August 25th.
