On February 7th, 2025, as the actress famous for “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” graced the red carpet at Santa Monica’s Barkar Hangar for the Critics Choice Awards (hosted by Chelsea Handler), she hinted at her upcoming return to Sunnydale for a Hulu revival of the popular show. She went on to say, “In the end, it’s a project we’re keen on pursuing,” and further mentioned that the revival of the famous series is merely at its initial phase, “yet it’s equally important to establish the right context for the storyline.

Since over two decades have passed since the final episode of the original series, which aired from 1997 to 2003 and ran for seven seasons, it’s natural that the Cruel Intentions actress would want to deliver a faithful portrayal.

She playfully remarked, “There are certainly some large footsteps to follow – my own,” she quipped, which is quite peculiar. I guess they’re meant for me.

What has been disclosed about the upcoming sequel series? The initial episode of the as-of-now unnamed production is scheduled to be helmed by Academy Award winner Chloe Zhao.
