As a reviewer who grew up in the vibrant era of ’80s TV shows, I must say that seeing Freddie Flintoff reviving the iconic Bullseye is like witnessing a modern-day miracle! The show’s nostalgic charm has always held a special place in my heart, and I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of excitement at its return.
Freddie Flintoff returns to television with a new role as host of the revamped game show, Bullseye.
From the ’80s until its initial run on ITV, a television program centered around darts was broadcast, and later resurrected in 2006. Previously, Dave Spikey served as the show’s host.
However, many will know that the series was fronted by comedian Jim Bowen during its initial run.
This upcoming Christmas Day, you can catch Bullseye on your television sets at exactly 5:25 PM, only on ITV1, as confirmed by ITV.
In simple terms, this popular family game show in the UK, often praised for its success and affection, has its Christmas edition featuring teams comprised of a casual darts player, also referred to as the ‘thrower’, and their teammate, who is the ‘knower’.
The storyline proceeds: “They’ll team up, utilizing their abilities, and compete by throwing darts at various game boards. Correct answers to questions will earn them points and prizes.
Upon the unveiling of the latest Christmas special, Flintoff expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “Darts hold a special place in my heart, and Bullseye was among my most cherished television programs growing up.
“Can’t quite believe I’ll get to host this Christmas special. You can’t beat a bit of Bully!”
In a similar vein, Katie Rawcliffe, the head of entertainment and daytime programming at ITV, expressed: “Bullseye returns, and we’re thrilled to have Freddie Flintoff come back to ITV as well.
“It’s a real treat to have both as key parts of our Christmas schedule on ITV1 and ITVX this year.”
In the most recent episode of Field of Dreams that aired on BBC Three, Andrew Flintoff made an appearance, but production had been paused following his accident at the Top Gear test track in Dunsfold Aerodrome back in December 2022.
After the collision, Flintoff sustained injuries to his face and ribs. Consequently, the BBC decided to halt filming for Season 34 of Top Gear temporarily, and later announced they would pause the Top Gear format “indefinitely”.
