Bunnie Xo is willing to put in the work when it comes to her kids.
The 45-year-old woman, who is stepmother to her husband ‘Jelly Roll’s’ 16-year-old daughter named Bailee Ann, shared how she’s providing help and guidance as Bailee embarks on her first dating experiences.
On February 18th, in a TikTok video, Bunnie (born as Alyssa DeFord) was seen sitting beside Bailee, both of them with their laptops open. They then prepared to start investigating, symbolizing an intense online search by mimicking the action.
In my latest video update, I shared that our date was absolutely fantastic. Since then, I find myself delving deep into his family tree, exploring his astrological birth chart, and even peeking at the layout of his grandfather’s hometown via Google Earth. It seems I can’t help but get intrigued by every detail about this man!
In the caption of the post, she simply wrote alongside a winking emoji, “Jk.”
7 days ago, an excited Bunnie, who is also stepmother to Jelly Roll’s son Noah Buddy (7 years old), whom he shares with ex Melissa Ann Cowell, revealed that Bailee had decided to try her luck in the dating scene using another video.
Tonight, Bailee is going on her initial significant date, as in her first proper one,” the host of the Dumb Blonde podcast stated in a February 15 TikTok. “We hurried home because we wished to be present with her prior to her departure.
From the moment I exchanged vows with Jason DeFord, also known as Jelly Roll, in 2016, being a supportive mother has been my top priority. In fact, our meeting sparked an unwavering resolve within me to assist Jelly Roll during his custody journey for Bailee.
On a 2023 episode of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast, Jelly Roll recounted, “Bunnie looked at me and said something that still touches me deeply. She promised, ‘No matter what our future holds, I’m going to aid you in raising this little girl.’ It left quite an impression on me.
Ever since Bunnie and Jelly Roll declared their intentions to start a family together, they shared their aspirations of having a baby via IVF as early as 2026, which they unveiled last year.
In June 2024, Bunnie expressed on her Instagram Story that she and J are feeling both thrilled and apprehensive simultaneously. They never imagined they’d want to expand their family, but something shifted this year. They now yearn for a piece of themselves to enrich the already wonderful family they have with Bailee and Noah.
Regarding Jelly Roll’s thoughts on growing their family with Bunnie, he’s quite certain she’d make a wonderful mother.
On Mother’s Day 2020, I penned on Instagram about a unique woman who nurtures a child not biologically hers as if she were her own. Over the years, I’ve witnessed the transformation of our relationship into an extraordinary mother-daughter bond with Bailee. This journey has been nothing less than enchanting, and I consider myself extraordinarily fortunate to have found such an exceptional life partner.

The love story between Bunnie XO and Jelly Roll commenced in the vibrant city of Las Vegas. As she shared on Bussin’ With The Boys, she encountered the singer in August 2015 when he performed at the Las Vegas Country Club, long before Jelly Roll became a household name. At that time, he was residing in a van, and there were barely 20 people present at the show.
However, their connection quickly took center stage. “When I met him,” Bunnie recounted on the podcast in 2023, “‘My soul was like, ‘There you are,'” she said. “And he’s not my type. I’m not his type. He loves Taylor Swift. That’s his type.”
Yet, their relationship didn’t blossom immediately. Bunnie was embroiled in an unhealthy relationship, and Jelly Roll was pursuing his own path. But they reconnected in October 2015. As Bunnie put it, she was “just smitten.”
After her former partner was incarcerated, she shared that a friend provided Jelly Roll with her phone number. Jelly Roll would call and text her for advice on his daughter Bailee from a previous relationship.
Bunnie noted that her bond with Jelly Roll transitioned from a platonic to a romantic one in July 2016 when he returned to Vegas to film some videos, and they spent the night together. “We were like shit-faced drunk,” she remembered. “I was trying to get it up, get it in, get it on, and get it out, and this guy was like, ‘What’s your five-year plan?'”
So, they conversed about their aspirations, and Bunnie recalled Jelly Roll saying, “OK, cool. Let’s do it.
Bunnie revealed that they got married a month after her statement on ‘Bussin’ With The Boys’, disclosing their wedding took place at Las Vegas’ Stained Glass Wedding Chapel in August 2016. She also mentioned they completed their five-year plan, which included purchasing their own home as the final step.
Another aspiration of Bunnie was to establish her own podcast.
On ‘The Howard Stern Show’ in June 2024, Jelly Roll shared that when Bunnie left the sex work industry in 2019, he asked her about her passions, and she expressed a desire to have a talk show.
Bunnie exited the sex work industry in 2019 and launched the ‘Dumb Blonde’ podcast later that year. She used her earnings to support Jelly Roll’s aspirations, such as investing in his ‘Addiction Kills’ album and helping him obtain custody of his daughter.
On Sofia Franklyn’s podcast ‘Sofia with an F’, Bunnie discussed her investment in Jelly Roll’s 2017 album and assistance with gaining custody of his daughter.
In 2008, Bailee, Jelly Roll’s daughter, was born while he was serving time in prison for drug dealing. However, his life took a turn when she entered his world at the age of two. As he recounted in his 2023 documentary “Jelly Roll: Save Me”, Bailee played an instrumental role in his transformation, even though she was too young to comprehend it at the time.
Bailee joined Jelly Roll’s life as he was embarking on his music career and living in his van. Although he acknowledged being a less-than-present father initially, his perspective changed when he fought for full custody of Bailee amid her mother’s struggle with addiction.
In the early stages of their relationship, Jelly Roll and Bunnie worked together to secure legal representation for him. Bunnie financed the entire process, as she shared on the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast. Their newfound commitment to each other led them to reassess their lives.
Recalling her thoughts during that period, Bunnie stated in the documentary, “Who were we to take Bailee away from her mother and bring her into our chaotic lifestyle? What makes us better?” This realization prompted Bunnie to quit using drugs, claiming she hasn’t touched a pill since then.
Bunnie also took on a maternal role in their lives, as evident in the heartfelt message she wrote for Bailee’s Sweet 16 birthday in 2024: “Thank you Papa Roll for giving me the opportunity to be the mother I never had. But most importantly—Thank you to the sweetest, sassiest 16-year-old for teaching me the most healing life lessons ever these past eight years and allowing me to be your mama.
In August 2016, just before Jelly Roll got married to Bunnie and while he was pursuing custody of Bailee, their son Noah was born. The artist of “Need a Favor” expressed his feelings on Facebook after the birth, saying, “God Bless this Child to be everything I am not!” and adding that he hoped neither Noah nor Bailee would ever have to bear the consequences of their father’s mistakes.
Over time, Jelly Roll and Bunnie have kept most aspects of Noah’s life private, but they have provided occasional glimpses into it. For example, in July 2023, Bunnie posted a TikTok where she asked Noah questions about his favorite sport (soccer) and preferred activities at the beach (playing in the water). She made sure to note that she had obtained her partner’s permission before posting the video, commenting “always mama approved first.”
Bunnie and Jelly Roll maintain a good relationship with Noah’s mother. In a 2023 Facebook post, Bunnie described Noah’s mother as “one stand-up chick” and expressed gratitude for her role in their lives, stating that she holds it down for baby Noah and them, especially since they are often away due to their busy schedules.
Bunnie also enjoys being Noah’s stepmother. In an October 2024 Instagram post, she expressed her joy at watching Noah grow up, saying that being in his life since the day he was born is a privilege. She also thanked Noah’s mother for her role in their lives.
Two years following their marriage in 2016, Jelly Roll and Bunnie parted ways. However, their affection refused to fade, and they reignited their relationship later that same year. In February 2023, Bunnie penned on TikTok: “Who would have thought that our separation in 2018, my return to Las Vegas, and your pursuit of me – would lead us on this incredible lifelong adventure.” “We’ve finally made a commitment to one another and accomplished everything we pledged during our first encounter in 2016. Our sandcastle had to crumble so we could rebuild on stronger foundations. I love you so deeply.
Back in 2022 at the CMA Awards, there I was, hand-in-hand with none other than Jelly Roll, strutting our stuff on the red carpet like a couple of country music royalty. And as the spotlight shone down on us, I couldn’t help but feel that we were the black sheep of the genre – misfits who somehow found ourselves in this glittering world. But hey, who needs to fit in when you have each other, right? Just like the Addams Family of old, we’re here to shake things up and make a little history along the way.
2023 found me reflecting on our journey, exactly seven years since we first exchanged vows as a devoted fan of this extraordinary couple. You might recall that moment when Jelly Roll, the Grammy-nominated artist, held my hands and looked into my eyes, promising “Bunnie, life won’t always be like this. You won’t have to do what you do for much longer; we’re going to figure this out.”
True to his word, he delivered on that promise. In a heartfelt message penned in September 2023, Bunnie reminisced about their tumultuous yet beautiful journey together. “I didn’t know what the future held for us,” she admitted, “but I didn’t care as long as you were by my side to face it.”
The ensuing years have been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, filled with challenges that tested their love and resilience. Yet, together they navigated the twists and turns, working tirelessly to overcome their past traumas and learn to love healthily. In the process, they created a home where their daughter Bailee could grow up with pride.
Through it all, they stood hand in hand, facing adversity with courage and grace. “You are my missing puzzle piece,” Bunnie declared to Jelly Roll. “My safe space. The man that makes me dance in my feminine energy. My best friend, my hero, and the greatest man I’ve ever known. They don’t make ’em like you anymore, Jason DeFord.”
As we move forward, one thing is certain: their love story continues to be a testament to perseverance, healing, and the power of true partnership.
They carry on living peacefully together. In truth, Bunnie has been a significant influence on some of Jelly Roll’s songs, such as “Woman” and “Kill a Man”, to mention just a couple.
“She’s the best, man,” the country music star expressed to Entertainment Tonight about the latter track. “I have tried writing a thousand love songs, and I thought they were all a bit cheesy. So I was thinking, ‘How do I write a love song and keep my masculinity but also completely expose how much I am in love?'”
He continued, “I don’t see any other woman on this planet but her, and I wanted to write a song that mirrored that and was open.”
Jelly Roll and Bunnie were also cast together in the music videos for “Wheels Fall Off” as well as “Lonely Road”, featuring Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox.
Regardless of where she is, Bunnie is always expressing her support for Jelly Roll. In a tribute dedicated to his 2024 CMT Music Awards, she referred to him as her “sweet husband, the visionary” and the “maestro of misfits”. She acknowledged that he didn’t become successful overnight but rather it took 20 years to build his career.
Throughout this journey, they experienced days when they believed no one was listening to their music, and nights when their concerts filled up arenas. Bunnie shared that she had witnessed Jelly Roll pouring his heart into writing songs that provided comfort for the broken, with those songs resonating deeply within their listeners.
She described the therapeutic music as something that touched the cracks of people’s souls and made them feel understood and seen. Fans are moved by their unwavering bond, as Bunnie expressed her love for Jelly Roll, stating that his voice is an instrument of healing, with the world serving as his choir.
Jelly Roll, in turn, supports Bunnie as well. In a message for their eight anniversary, he marveled at the impact she has on social media and through her podcast, particularly inspiring other women. He expressed that seeing this fills him with immense joy.
However, it’s important to understand that Bunnie XO won’t be sending affectionate gestures if someone targets her partner.
In a 2024 episode of “Dumb Blonde,” Bunnie spoke out against hurtful online comments aimed at her husband Jelly Roll about his weight.
“My husband logged off the internet because he’s exhausted from being bullied over his weight,” she said, adding that it makes her cry as he is a gentle soul.
Although Jelly Roll might not show how these remarks affect him, Bunnie pointed out that they still take their toll.
“The internet can make any comment they wish about you, and they say ‘You’re a celebrity. You should be able to handle it,'” she continued. “But no, we shouldn’t have to.”
Bunnie emphasized that bullying is never acceptable.
“Don’t bully people,” she stated. “Remember, you don’t know where they are mentally.”
And Bunnie made it clear that she won’t tolerate bullying.
“I’m sorry, but I’ll stand up for all the underdogs,” she noted. “You can’t bully me or my family, and I will fight until the end.
Jelly Roll and Bunnie have been transparent about their attempts to expand their family. After the “Son of a Sinner” star announced they were considering having a child, his spouse detailed their steps.
In a June 2024 Instagram post, Bunnie wrote, “We initially intended to keep this private, but we feel our IVF process should be shared because we’ve always been so open.” She added, “Given all the challenges stacked against us, it’s already been tough and we are only just getting started.”
Despite the difficulties, they remain optimistic. Bunnie continued, “We have been consulting with IVF specialists and exploring all our options to grow our family. J and I are equally excited and anxious at the same time. We never thought we’d want to expand our family, but something changed this year, and we both now desire a piece of us together to join our already wonderful family including Bailee and Noah.
